Iphone 8, so i guess it's for the iphone "7s"

Probably, this does confirm that the 7S/8 will start at 64GB as previously rumoured, perhaps the tiers will be:

64GB 8 / $649
256GB 8 / $749

64GB 8+ / $769
256GB 8+ / $869

and same for the X/Edition:

64GB Edition / $999
256GB Edition / $1099

and maybe:

512GB Edition / $1199

The more I think about this release the more it's looking like a big clusterf&$k. The 7S are supposed to be Apple's premium flagship phones, but now we have another next generation released right along side it? I know it's just a name, but releasing a special 10th anniversary X or Edition iPhone seems a lot better than releasing the iPhone 8 right next to new 7 models.

Perhaps since they're all getting design tweaks they'll all be called iPhone 8. I like that idea.

Yes most likely they will be called 8 and 8+ instead of 7S and 7S+, and the actual 8 will be called Edition.

More interesting than the name I think is the 64GB (if this is indeed real). The iPhone 7 was the first time in 7 years the base iPhone moved from 16GB (to 32GB). Would be strange to see the base jump again so quickly. 32 and 128 were such good options (for Apple) as 32 was enough as a base, but getting quadruple the storage for $100 more is such an easy sell. Hmm.

Its probably done to accommodate the $999 Edition, so instead of selling the 256GB 8+ for $969, they're selling it for -$100, which is $869, and selling the Edition for +$30, which is $999, as it wouldn't make sense to sell the 8+ for $969 and Edition for $999, now you have two phones in the same price range ($900-$1000) with only a $30 difference.

Also storage prices are falling.

Valid thought. 2 storage tiers definitely helps simplify the pricing with 3 new phones launching.

The 7S has too few updates: A11 and wireless charging.

Without a bump in base storage and badge engineering (iPhone "8"), consumers will simply pick up a 7 for $649.

Shortage of OLED iPhone means many consumers will consider 7S or 7. In that case, Apple certainly wants you to pay $769 for this year's model and not $649.

Anyone else find it questionable that it lists the color as "Space Gray"? I feel like that doesn't line up with any previous leaks we've seen.

It's gonna be more than a little funny if they call the 7S the 8

Really reaching there, Apple.

Reaching but it has to be done.

1. Apple prefers you spend money for the 8 instead of considering the 7.
2. Parity with Samsung in naming.

Had the 6S phones been redesigned, they could have debuted as 7. Internally they offered big speed & RAM improvements, new and improved cameras, 3D Touch, etc. iPhone 6 to iPhone 6S was a much bigger leap forward than the 6S to 7 was IMO.

It looks like the upcoming models have all been redesigned with glass backs. We know very little about the features. But If Apple ends up going with 8 it makes more sense to streamline the release and call them all 8 models

WOW! When did Apple start making Space Gray. The stickers show SPACE Gray Color! It's most likely fake!.

Well it's a bigger design change than the jump from 6S to 7... ;)

But who cares about the name or number anyway. Will not change the way the phone looks or operates.

I can see skipping the 7S into 8 (glass back = new design = new number). This will be the first time Apple breaks the pattern (no 7S).
I wonder what's in store for future iPhone lineup. Apple wouldn't do this without reasons.
