A Chinese Weibo account going by the name "Kang" this morning posted allegedly accurate information for every product set to be announced at the upcoming Apple event on October 13, including the rumored smaller form-factor HomePod speaker.

An image of the original post in Chinese has been tweeted by leaker Ice Universe, who has provided accurate information on unreleased Apple products in the past.

According to the leak, the the official name of the speaker is HomePod Mini, which will be priced at $99. The size of the speaker is said to be 3.3-inches high (the height of the original HomePod is 6.8-inches) and it is allegedly powered by an S5 processor, which is used in the Apple Watch Series 5 and Apple Watch SE.

The HomePod Mini is said to go on sale on November 16-17. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has suggested the new speaker could include two tweeters, rather than the current model's seven, in order to drive down costs.

This morning's leak also includes talk of an upcoming "MagSafe" series of wireless charging accessories as well as alleged details on the full iPhone 12 lineup expected to be announced next week.

price still isn't mini enough for some. but far better than the large HomePod if it can deliver on amazing sound
it can;t deliver amazing sound based on those dimensions...physics ...i think this is for small rooms, apartments etc

Very good price if true! I do hope they refresh these more often to show they are committed to this market in both high end and entry point.

For me the HomePod has too much base. I guess the Mini will be better for me? Or if they could just let us choose the eq...

I do enjoy the sound from my Homepods but do agree it could do with some sort of EQ even if it was just different presets would be a good start!

Amen brother. Same reason I won’t buy a MacBook. Where’s the LPT1 parallel port? How am I supposed to hook up my ESPON FX80 dot matrix without a parallel port??

You’re welcome

Yes, a lot of people looks at Apple with very limited budget..so instead of making positive thoughts about Apple, they say they are overpriced...a lot of people wants free devices
Your comment is so condescending. Nobody is asking for free devices but if you're going to pay more for a device it should at least be compatible with other music services and offer bluetooth support. I realise the sound quality is superb but it's so limited compared to what Sonos have to offer.

I'll have to hear the sound quality in person before deciding whether or not to purchase, price and size wise it has me interested.

Would seem like the intention is to compete with Amazon and Google's mid-level voice assistants, but Siri is still pretty far behind those two and would need dramatic improvements before a low-cost Siri speaker becomes a viable thing.

My HomePod is ace because of the sound quality; Siri understands maybe 70% of my requests, and even those it understands then return an incorrect result and I have to override manually anyway (playing the wrong version of an album or song for instance).

I don't know why I'd want a second-rate speaker driven by a second-rate voice assistant.
