I haven't found anything truly compelling bringing me to a new AW. I have a SS S3 and it still is as preppy as the day I bought it.

I've noticed too that stainless used just a year later is a massive savings. I want to say my S3 was $500 bran new and now they're $700+? I think when it's time to upgrade I'm getting something used. I bought my wife a black SS S3 almost two years ago now for $180. Seems like the only way to go for me.

So they cannot even get it ready for the tiny Apple Watch but yet they expect it to be ready for iPad and MacBook at „affordable“ prices next year? Like LOL

That's a lie. 🤷‍♂️

I unplugged mine at 10 am this morning and it’s now at 52 % ( 11 pm). I am not actually using it for anything but to check the time or glance at notifications which I will then engage with on my iPhone.

I still charge it every night because I hate leaving the house with anything not being at 100% charge

They'll test it on the HomePod first to minimize the number of angry customers when it burns out.

Just reading some of the comments about battery life....

what are people doing with their watches that they need something like five days? If I forget to put my watch on the charger I can still go at least an entire day more without worrying and it's only a series 3.

Isuooose I can understand sleep Tracking. But if you take your watch off at night, it doesn't seem like much of a hassle to place it in a dock. We have a super minimalist dock that holds the charging msgbileg horizontal. When I take it off I drop it in there and it's set. Most day at the end of the day I'm at over 70% battery after 12 hours.... it's no less convenient than charging my phone at the end of the day.

I only care about new health monitoring features, otherwise my series 5 is perfect.

I was holding back upgrading my iPad Pro 2017 due to the very very light upgrade of the iPP 2020 and the miniled A14X iPP Rumors for this fall. So with seeing that the new screen tech is delayed is good news for me because I just ordered a 2020 iPP.

Mine does. The times when I've forgotten to switch it over to my nighttime watch I've still had over 30% battery left the next morning, if not significantly more.
Yep. I usually forget to charge my watch when I go to take a shower (I don't take it in the shower with me, but I realize I'm wearing the watch in the bathroom and take it off).

I usually get about 1.5 days of regular use (Series 4).

I have a Series 4 and it does everything I want it to do. All I want with a Series 6 is for it to be thinner.

current rumours suggest design will be same as series 4 and 5

That said you never know!

Would this be any relation to that they wanna use MicroLED first on Macs?

miniLED is what they’re using in Macs and iPads next, not MicroLED

if anything they will use MicroLED on watch first just like with oled because it’s a smaller display and will be cheaper to manufacture, test and supply

MicroLED in Mac sized displays would be very expensive in the near future

same. I’m about 32% battery left, it’s 8:22pm on my stainless steel mini 4 (44mm)

it’s been out of the charger since the prior day at 7:30am, so about 37 hours off charger with 32% battery to go.

granted some days the battery goes down quicker but for the most part I can stretch to 2 days with the 44mm watch

this is fair to identify.

lots of the watchOS7 features will be capable in every phone that is compatible

I don’t expect any new hardware features to be exclusive in the series 6 beyond the battery and processor Improvements.

for example, the current sensors in the Apple Watch are capable of interpreting the anxiety and oxygen levels. There’s nothing new in terms of hardware that would require those features to be exclusive

16-18 hours tops on series 5.

Thats terrible! On the days I don’t work out, my AW5 lasts 48 hours. When I run for more than an hour or swim, then yes, the battery drains maybe 20-25%. When this happens, I top off my watch while I shower. If I had an extra 2-2.5 hrs out of battery, I might not even need to do that.

I don't know why the display's battery consumption would matter when you're sleeping and the display is supposed to be completely turned off.

With sleep tracking, my battery drains between 10-15% while sleeping, with the screen off. Therefore, I would at least like to get that much in battery back. An extra 10-15% in battery is not a lot to ask for.

Because more data allows you to figure all sorts of fun things out. How does drinking coffee impact my sleep? How about drinking lots of water? Even though I got 8 hours of sleep, did I get less REM sleep? What caused that? Oh hey it seems I sleep better every Saturday than I do Tuesday... I usually drink Tuesday after work, maybe thats it?

Those sorts of things can all be deciphered with sleep data, and it makes a big difference. I am sleeping much better than I used to since I really started regressing my fitbit data and habits.
Theo can all be deciphered if you have electrodes connected to your brain. Don’t wish for too much with just a watch.

the Watch needs to save battery during the day so there’s more left for sleep tracking at night. So MicroLED and an advanced SoC could solve the problem.

It was the same on 3 different models. My usage isn’t much different from series 4. I get a good 1-2K notifications a day which likely why it drops so fast as i do use my Apple Watch all the time and get a lot that comes through throughout the day.

it lasts me all day but barely. Normally on about 20% at 23:00 after it’s off charge at 8am during the week.

And why do you think Sleep Tracking needs so much power?

My nighttime watch with AutoSleep used just 1% per hour on average last night.

I have a series 5 so no it’s not a lie

Was the same on two Nike watches and my current SS model

So yeah don’t say somebody is lying when they have the device

With 58% left currently with no workouts
You said "16-18 hours tops". And now you even prove yourself, that this is wrong.😂 I mean, with 9 hours standby and 58% left, you would come over 18 hours and over 8 hours usage (which is very high).
Oh, and I also have a Series 5, so I know 16-18 hours TOPS is bollocks.

huh? That still only gets you to a little over 18 hours! Would you call 18 hours and 30 mins usage as 19 hours? No you would still say 18 hours. So no what i said was spot on. I wouldn’t call 9 hours standby at 54% good at all.

It was on about 54% after i checked the % at this time so no it’s very accurate actually. 16-18 hours RANGE!

On a normal working day it is in that range with a daily workout. Yesterday was a day where it was off charge at about 11am so clearly it would last a lot longer seeing as no workouts were completed.

Off charge at 8am and by 23:00 it is normally on about 15-20% after 1 hour workout. which is 15 hours! So no it isn’t bollocks as you call it.

Battery life issues on the series 5 is very real and been an issue for a lot people since it came out. Is it same for everybody? Clearly not. Depends on different people and how they use their devices

i have little reason to lie about my battery usage. You only have to look at the Apple Watch forum where i and others have had serious issues.

I wish it was better but it isn’t. Hopefully series 6 will be far better and match my usage from series 4.

Likely it’s those notifications. 2K sounds excessive. I don’t have many on my watch other than the default. I also eliminate a lot of 3rd party alerts that would drive me insane!

Edit: I just got back from an hour run and my watch went from 100 to 86%. I put it on the charger, jumped in the shower and it was back up to 100%. Will be at around 70% by the end of the day.

I’m on 5 hours standby with 81% left with 2 hours usage.

I won’t complain too much as even if it’s on 5% when i go to bed least it lasts all day but it’s close. Will see how it goes today. Right now it’s about where it normally is.

The Apple Watch Series 6 will feature an OLED screen like previous models, according to a leaker of upcoming Apple products, suggesting the company isn't quite ready to use its in-house MicroLED display technology in consumer products.

bb-apple-watch-june-2019-3.jpg

Apple reportedly has a secret manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California where it is designing and producing test samples of displays that use MicroLED, a technology that will follow OLED. MicroLED screens can result in devices that are slimmer, brighter, and use less power.

The technology isn't expected to reach an iPhone for another year or so, but there is precedent for new screen technologies showing up in the Apple Watch first. When it was introduced in 2014, the Apple Watch had an OLED screen. The technology then migrated to the iPhone X three years later.

Apple is said to have been testing prototype Apple Watch models with MicroLED displays since 2017, and rumors have suggested an Apple Watch with a microLED display could launch as soon as this year.

However, the Twitter account @L0vetodream, whose short Apple leaks come prefaced with "in my dream," this morning claimed the Series 6 "will continue [to] use the display from JDI."

Over the last couple of years, JDI Display has supplied some of the OLED displays for Apple Watch models, and Apple has been gradually increasing its proportion of orders from the manufacturer, which was recently buoyed by a $200 million investment from Apple to enable larger production of OLED displays for iPhones.

Apple Watch Series 6 models, which are in development for a fall 2020 launch, are rumored to feature faster performance, better water resistance and improved wireless transmission for faster Wi-Fi and cellular speeds.

According to code found in a leaked version of iOS 14, Apple is working on watchOS 7 and Apple Watch Series 6 features that will allow the Apple Watch to detect blood oxygen levels and panic attacks. Apple may also add a new fitness app and a sleep tracking app to the Apple Watch.

The anonymously-run Twitter account @L0vetodream accurately revealed several details about the new ?iPhone SE? before any other leakers that we know of, including that the device would launch in the second week of April and come in three storage capacities. Likewise, the account accurately claimed that new iPad Pro models would launch in the third week of March. It has also hinted at a 2021 release for a rumored 14-inch MacBook Pro.

So now we are getting confirmation that something that was never supposed to happen isn’t happening, glad that’s all cleared up, Thanks!!!

some explanation of the MicroLED tech in the original article would be useful. How is it different from LED and what would be the advantages of using it?
They don’t know....basically they are just saying something that’s wasn’t supposed to happen isn’t happening.
