If me can gets me points across, grammar is fine as far me is concerned

for forums anyway lol

Ye Gads!;) Point taken, but gawd, I can't stand bad grammar. Many are the times when I've lapsed into that habit due to being around people with that affliction (aka most Americans:D) When talking to my kids, I use correct grammar and will correct them from time to time. My kids really know how to get my hackles up. They just have to say, "I'm done." I launch into a spiel about involving them not being roast turkeys, sticking of forks and ending with, "And the correct term is 'I'm finished.'"
The only problem is that the rules of grammar changes constantly. I still use old school grammar from the 80's edition of The Little Brown Handbook.
Nowadays it's okay to say "I will..." but I still use "I shall..." And it's okay to use "they" or "them" when referring to an individual of uncertain gender. But I still use "he" or "him" when gender is uncertain (Politically correctness be damned:p)
Anyhow, this has been an endorsement for The Little Brown Handbook to learn proper grammar.:)

Whilst American universities are of the opinion that this abomination is acceptable, it most certainly is NOT.

Four failures in a post about correctness. Good going! :p

It always has been, but they mean different things. So do "you will" and "you shall".

4 or 5 years on and it's gone, I read my blog several months ago and couldn't understand half the rubbish I was saying.
I was like you too, studying at Uni in my early 20s. Like anything, put the effort in, and you will reap. I'm learning Mandarin now, and even though I know I'm old and it's harder - I aim to speak it fluently, and not just at textbook level, I want to speak like a regular Chinese dude hanging out at a bar in Shanghai, I know I can do it, even though everyone says it's hard as hell. You'll do it too at Uni, if you try.

yes, to master a language requires huge efforts in receiving, checking, and reviewing informaion.
Practice makes perfect. if you want to stand out, you have to pay the price, here i mean time and efforts spent in enlarging your vacabulary.
