Apps look good and the new UI is smooth and intuitive but it's going to take a while to get used to the stark, jerky, shadowless home screen and animations on iPad 2 and 3.

Given how many legacy users there will be pressing upgrade without a clue as to the implications, I foresee some dissatisfaction.

out of curiosity, why? I have been running the GM release of it and I love not seeing updates being needed to be done but if I open up the app store I get a review of everything that was updated. Pretty slick.

Worried about battery life? Not knocking your choice at all just curious.

I have zero issues with the way it is in iOS 6. I like seeing a badge over the App Store icon. I also like reading the update description before I install it. Having slightly better battery life with it turned off is a bonus.

Crippled in what sense? Mainly the loss of the widgets, or something else as well?

I liked iOS 6's Notification Center better, normally you could open it up and see everything right in front of you, plus you had "widgets".

Now you open it up, you usually have to switch to another page or scroll up and down due to the font size being increased. It has a lot of information on it now that I don't want or care for.

The crippled notification centre compared to ios 6

I agree 100%! the weather was better, stocks were better, and I could instantly see email, messages, calls etc on ONE page not three.

Bring mail, messages to the main today screen, weather should be at a glance, and I have 15 stocks. I loved them scrolling and I could move the scroll to easily see a stock, the new way takes too much space and the temperature isn't even always there, sometimes it's just listed as the high for today...I want to know at a glance the temp, and next few days with visual keys.

I checked notification center often, now it's kinda broken up and not nearly as nice for a quick glance.

The today screen is my least favorite feature in 7, it could be the best, hopefully with time it will become what it should be.

I generally really enjoy ios 7. Must say though, the calendar apps are a bit wonky, and if the clock app for iPad couldn't be any worse to set a previous alarm it managed to make it far more a confusing! What's up with all of the little barely able to touch time lines.

The very slow animations, runs very smoothly but the animations are so slow and just get in the way of what your trying to do.

the calendar feature

This.

iOS6 stock calendar was already lagging far behind Fantastical, for example, when it comes to ease of use, and now they've scrapped the month + list of selected day view (ie the most useful view) it's a farce.

I would really like the performance be better or atleast stay on par with Ios 6.

Will have to wait to wednesday to see how the performance is on my Iphone 5 and Ipad 4.

The messages app is too white and the fade-in animations are too long (iPhone 5). Haven't installed the GM on my iPad 3 yet, and by the sounds of it, I'm best not to. I hope the blur comes back...

The burst mode shutter in Camera is my least favourite feature. If I could disable it then I'd have no problems because I can see it would be useful at times. However I got into the habit on iOS 6 of putting my finger on the shutter button, holding for the right moment and releasing to take the picture and so I'm finding it very hard to get out if this habit in iOS 7!

- The 'moments' in the Photos app. Looks messy and I don't think I will ever use it.
- The 'missed tab' in the notification center. No idea what it is for, just wasted space.
- The textual weather forecast that replaces the weather widget in notification center. Much less useful.

It's completely unacceptable that only 9 apps are displayed inside a folder in a 9.7" iPad!!

That's my least favorite feature. I'd rather have a folder that can only have 20 apps that are all displayed at once over a unlimited folder but show you only 9 apps at once.

iOS 7 as a whole seems to be less optimized for iPad than before. Notification Center takes full screen, Siri takes full screen as well. Maps, Calendar, and GameCenter look totally blown up on iPad (something they mocked Android for!), multitasking shows 3 apps at most, which is ridiculous on a big device like the iPad.

iOS 7 on the iPad needs a rethink. iOS on iPhone is completely fine, and I'd recommend all to install it on their phones.

Strongly agree on all these points. While I'm loving 7 on my iPhone, Apple isn't taking advantage of the larger screen real estate at all in iOS 7 for iPad which is a big disappointment. It's nearly identical to its phone counterpart when it shouldn't be. Siri, notification center, multitasking and folders shouldn't be implemented identically to how it is on iPhone.

Hopefully Apple will update iOS 7 for iPad soon after launch to fix these issues.

and the dock
and the dots signal indicator
and the folders with just 9 apps
and parallax

iOS 7 is not for me I suppose.. :(

The fact that you can just swipe left or right to get to different tabs makes it somewhat easier to switch.

I do get the lack if widgets. But I'm not sure iI really want everything all in ine screen like messages and email with calendar and stock info.

I'm generally happy with it, but the calendar certainly hasn't changed for the better.
