Some good points about the poly ones getting scratched and what not so Im going to get black leather if they have it and then my next choice is navy otherwise Ill hold off on it.

Some pointed out that the leather will scratch, how so Ive never seen leather scratch?

Not buying smart cover.

1. Doesn't cover the back. (Big deal)
2. All the good colors are for the leather. 79 dollars for a case? GTFO apple.
3. Walt Mossberg and other reviewers said that apple smart cover opens very easily. It opens inside the bag and turns on the iPad. No No No.

What's the return policy for Smart Covers?
I may pick up a blue poly but I feel like I may change my mind with the colorfulness and want to exchange it for a grey one.

I spoke with an Apple employee and he says, even if you have opened it, it is returnable for a full refund with no restocking fee.

It's more like a suede material. I will look and see if I can dig up the particular review for you. It looked horrible and turned me off!

You're right. I would still imagine since it is that real "suede"ish leather and not a polished leather that it would look worse than the poly. I guess if you get the leather and I get a poly then we can officially compare lol

Also, the navy blue reminds me of Catholic School uniforms I was forced to wear for 13 years, so I won't be choosing that color anytime soon!

Black leather for me, red leather for the Mrs. I tried to talk her into a white iPad with pink cover but she'd have none of that.

Yeah, those aren't scratches... that's texture. It's leather.

Um, no. Perhaps you need a higher-resolution screen. I am talking about the streaking/ scratching, not the variations in dark and light (that's the texture). That is what happens when suede-leather has an abrasion with something. You can recreate that by simply scratching it with your fingernail. It looks horrible. Have you not ever been around unpolished leather?

I wonder if the smart covers will still work with a thin back powersheild type protector on?

You get some oil or water stains on that suede and you just know how bad that will look pretty quick. If it had been an oiled leather I'd have more confidence in it. Maybe I will wait and see what else is available in a month. I have a slip case already for it and a decal for on the back that will help keep the scratches away.

Neither. THIS.

Me too. I wish they did this with a black, white, and gray leather.

Oiled leather in White would have looked awesome on the white iPad 2.

Getting a white iPad and black leather SC though navy is still a possibility. Wonder if the the iPad2 accessories will be on display, or available for purchase prior to 5. Something to do while we are waiting for the iPad2 to go on sale.

Neither, as I'm sure, over time the side of the iPad is going to get scratched.

I'm hoping someone will make a ultra thin case in the style of the official iPad1 case.

I'm just going to sit and wait for the 1st "Smartcover is scratching my iPad2" postings that I can guarantee we are going to see.

:D Probably by the end of next week, if not sooner.
