Resolved Leave or keep sim card in iPad when selling?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times before but I see conflicting information.

I'm selling a 128GB Wi-Fi & Cellular (AT&T) iPad Air 2 and am wondering if I should leave the sim card in or not.

I am no expert, what I say here is only my experience. I am a sim swapper. Sometimes I want my 6S in use, sometimes my SE. When I swap the sim back and forth the phone with the sim goes online. I suspect that means that the activation and all the info is actually on the sim.
That being said, if it were mine, I would remove the sim.

Always remove the SIM. Even when I had to return a cellular iPad to Apple, the RMA instructions said to remove the SIM card.

Will I need to leave the sim in to demonstrate that the iPad works or is that just for cellular only? I currently have no cellular service activated but I did at one time and really have no need for the sim card.

Currently my SE is SIM free, works fine, just shows "No Sim" up in the wifi/cellular area upper left of the home screen. Try it and see, I don't think you will hurt anything, you will get a notification that the sim has been removed. Just acknowledge that and see what happens.

Why not reset the device and activate but not set it up and then take your SIM card out?! That will enable you to show it’s working and will not need to keep the SIM card as well.
