Just a thought, rather than having LED (as has been rumoured) on the iPhone 5 - how viable would it be to have a section of pixels on the screen pulse - A cluster of 30 for instance or even make it user customisable.

I realise that it could slay the battery - just wondered how realistic this is

for any part of a screen like the iPhone 4 has to light up, the entire backlight must be turned on.

though the iPhone 5 may have an oled screen and be able to do this, i wouldn't hold my breath.

aye fang queue :)

I wished Apple added a tiny LED light like what RIM does. That is one of the things I liked with BlackBerry and it didn't affect battery at all. Apple can give us an option to turn it off. I know it may not look good being on the opposite of the front-facing camera, but I know Apple will make it look good and subtle.
