i have white spots on the top of my screen. what is it?

Can you post a picture? It could be many things. If it bothers you though, I'd take advantage of your warranty and take it to the genius bar.

You mean a "stuck" or "hot" pixel. A dead pixel is one which fails to light and therefore appears black.

Well whatever it is (dead pixel or hot pixel) take it in to the Apple Store and have a genius replace the screen.
