Hint: search for Left4Dead 2 from within steam.app and click "play" - the game will be added to your account, you can download it later at your convenience.

I finally got through and am downloading Left for Dead 2. I do have a question.

Is this game now registered to my account so I can download whenever I want (like Apple's IOS/Mac App Stores or Xbox Live) or is it simply a free download that will go away unless I back it up?

It's registered to your account forever.

I picked this up for free. I had never heard anything about the game before but was very impressed by it. Neat idea and pretty fun

Is anyone having problems running the game??? I bought the game years back and it was working fine then. But now the game doesn't seem to run properly. I got sound playing but the screen is black.

I'm running on a 2012 15" MBP and 10.9.1

I am running it great on my late 2012 iMac. No problems here. In fact, it "feels" smoother since Mavericks than ML. No benchmarks to confirm it. I've been having some problems getting the built-in benchmarks to run based on the emailed directions Rob Art Morgan sent me from bare feats (where he tests games all the time).
