This is gonna sound like a strange question - but I'm sure someone will know the answer. On my MBP (Early 2011), when I plug in my external USB speakers, if one falls and hits the left computer speaker, or is just placed near the left speaker (and music is playing) the computer will go to sleep? Why is this?

When the lid of the mbp is closed without shutting down the laptop goes to sleep, the reason for this is that there is a magnet on the lid of the laptop, once it makes a connection to the body (sensor) it goes to sleep.

Speakers have magnets within them, so if your speaker is close enough to the sensor it will trigger the laptop to go to sleep.
