Figured I'd share yesterday's adventure with you all..

I walked up to my car as usual with my phone in one hand and coffee in the other, and a backpack on.

I place the coffee and phone on the roof, backpack in the car, and I get momentarily distracted by the garage attendant saying hi.

I wave back, grab the coffee and jump in. I get to work not realizing my phone wasn't on me until a coworker mentions trying to reach me earlier. I figure I left it in the car and run down to check.

As soon as I couldn't find it, I instantly realized what had happened:eek:.

I load 'find my iphone' on the ipad and track to what looks like the service road near the garage I park in. I flew over there.

The phone stayed on the roof for a good 2 miles..until a sharp turn sent it over into the middle of the road. It was run over likely multiple times. I was surprised I was able to track it given the condition it was in.

I never purchased apple care plus or insurance so I was hoping apple would agree to an out of warranty replacement and that the phone would still be jailbreak-able.

No dice, apple said that because "pieces were missing" that my only option was to purchase a new one.. boo

Enjoy the pictures!

Might want to try a different Apple Store and see if they are more sympathetic. A lot of it has to do with how generous the employee you're dealing with is.

Good luck! And wow, I can't believe after that it was still alive enough to ping its location!

I just bought a new one outright, couldn't really wait. But I did contact Amex and there's a good chance they will cover the cost.

Thanks for looking out!

Sorry about the phone, OP, but may I ask what kind of flip case you were using? I'm amazed the phone survived so that you could use find my iPhone. Amazing.

Did you get Apple Care + ? :D

haha, nope .. I've never been a fan of insurance plans.. Would always rather pay the out of warranty replacement fee since I'm usually good at holding on to my gadgets. Hoping this was a fluke!

Surfacepad by Twelve South.. Ironically I usually rock the phone naked, in which case it would have probably slid right off the car in the garage and potentially survived.. either way great case, shame they are discontinuing it :(.

Sorry about your accident, good to hear you got another one. I'd also like to know which case you happen to be using.

See above!

Apple really needs to work on quality control. It has gone down so much over the past few years

lol jk jk. Sorry i had to after seeing alot of whining about other small issues. To OP: Really sorry about your loss, I would consider buying insurance from squaretrade for your next iphone. Or this:D:

Hah, I wonder if that otterbox would have protected it from yesterday's activities..

Don't laugh at me for saying this, but it looks like you just need a new LCD/digitizer. It doesnt look that bad.

It's pretty bad, here are some more pics..

Kinda shocked apple wasn't willing to replace it for you. Bummer.

I had my fingers crossed but honestly wasn't surprised. The phone was in really bad shape.

So I'm assuming this is your iPad, you will be hearing from my insurance.

LOL, incredible.

Dang! I suggest AppleCare +, I have it and had to use the accidental replacement once already, it only costs $50 to get a new phone. Much better than spending $750 on a new one. It's a
No brainier. AppleCare + is only $99!

Not sure why but I thought it was more than that.. you may have convinced me..

Another thing I noticed is my battery life is infinitely better on this new phone which is 6.0.2.. my old one was 6.1.
