I recommend VLC and Perian for Quicktime 🙂

Perian which is really a plugin for quicktime.

Divx's own player.

I would avoid DivX's player. I got in on the free DivX Pro deal, and I have yet to actually find a .divx file that it CAN play, as opposed to VLC, where I have yet to find a .divx that it CAN'T play. So, stick with VLC and the Perian pack for Quicktime.

Plays ANYTHING. It is the holy grail of media players. I use it for everything.

Or you can change the .Divx to .Avi by clicking in the name twice then it plays in Quicktime

Happy camper again!!!

After the latest Quicktime update 7.4 (92), I was not able to open .avi files in quicktime, it just stalled and had to force quit. The files could be opened only in VLC.

I just installed Perian and Quicktime is back in business playing .avi files...
