Another sad passing of a great actress.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/...ctress-lauren-bacall-has-died-at-89/13974973/

Legendary film star Lauren Bacall has died, reports Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. She was 89. Both outlets are reporting she died of a suspected stroke Tuesday morning at her New York home.

Known for her husky voice and sizzling looks, Bacall started out as a model and then broke out as a leading lady opposite Humphrey Bogart in her first film, 1944's To Have and To Have Not. The two had a whirlwind romance and wed the following year, and a son and daughter soon followed -- as did more on-screen pairings: The Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage (1947), and Key Largo (1948). They remained married until Bogart's death from throat cancer in 1957.

Here's looking at you, kid.

She was a great actress and a classy lady. RIP.

Her first appearance in film in "To Have And Have Not" was sizzling, and started her life long romance and marriage to Humphrey Bogart.

Not bad for a 19 year old!

She made some wonderful movies...many with Bogart.

I once, at about age 11 or 12...rode up in an elevator with her. Took me 10 minutes to catch my breath after she exited the elevator.

A wonderful person both on and off screen...

This is back when Hollywood had legends, not spoiled stars we have today. Acting was treated like a craft and not just anyone could be on film.

"You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and...blow."

She was amazing in To Have and To Have Not. The on screen chemistry between her and Bogart was electric. Their acting was superb as well, and no doubt partly, or in whole, due to their budding relationship at that particular time.

Great post, and a wonderful memory to have; what an actress, strong, sassy, cool, and brilliant, terrific role model, and yes, an utter legend.

And agreed, yes, a wonderful person on screen and off.

Yes; not just fair comment, but an observation grounded in the truth. I couldn't agree more.

I rarely say I am a fan of a particular actor/actress but Lauren Bacall was one of my all time favourites. To Have and Have Not remains proof that a film can be sexy without being in_your_face with good acting and great dialogue.

Years ago, I was given as a gift her auto-biography "By Myself." I found it a very interesting read and quite honest. If anyone wants a good easy read and appreciates Bacall, I can recommend this book. Just be aware, it does expose Sinatra for the sh...he was at times.

RIP

I will always remember the Grand Opening of the first Krispy Kreme in Manhattan back in the '90s. As a transplanted Southerner, I was first in line, of course :)

Shortly after it opened, up pulled a long limo on the street right outside the front door.

The chauffeur opened the rear limo door, and to everyone's delight, out rose Lauren Bacall. She walked right up in line, and ordered three dozen donuts. (As anyone knows, that's normal for KK.)

I was quite impressed. She was not only a Hollywood icon, but a Krispy Kreme lover as well !!

One of the true great actresses of our time.

She was NYC original and was a tough but sweet real woman. She is a real Hollywood original from it's silver age! Those eyes said she could be tough but with unique softness.

R.I.P. Ms. Bacall!
