And I was having such good day, what sad news this is. Seen them once what an amazing concert. As others have said 2112 my favorite song and albumn by them. Though Nobody's Hero was one hell of a song too or Tom Sawyer, Red Barcheta (second favorite I think) and that albumn, so many good ones, God it is so sad....

RIP

I’d resigned myself to the fact they wouldn’t be touring any more, but it still felt good to know he was out there as a living metric of greatness. He left behind a body of work and reputation as a musician and as an individual that he can be proud of.

I’ve taken people to Rush concerts who hated the music, and vocals but felt just the drum solo was worth the price of admission. He had a way of demonstrating his technical proficiency and showmanship and sheer endurance while somehow making the whole piece musical.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Professor on the drum kit:

I was fortunate enough to see Rush 4 times through the late 80's and 90's. What an incredible and unique sound all from 3 guys. So many great albums and songs. Neal's talent was exceptional. Watching some of these musicians pass away through the years, a little bit of my youth dies with them. The music lives on. RIP Mr. Peart

Didn't catch this in the news.
He was one of the greats. So musical unlike so many drummers.
I've admired him for years but never got to see him.
That's ruined my day.

First rock concert I ever went to, the Rush "Signals" tour in 1983 or so in Vancouver. Neil Peart was a fantastic drummer and lyricist. I recall he went on a long motorcycle trip across North America after losing in succession his daughter then wife in the late 90s and he wrote a book about it.

RIP Neil.

R.I.P. Neil

Amazing drummer in an amazing band.

Made my youth and was my inspiration as a drummer. As young musicians and drummers, we memorized every hit and note to RUSH songs and attempted to play just like him(them)...then we went to the concerts And was just amazed with the “three amigos“ and what they could do before musicians “faked it”.

The man hit every note, never missed a beat In the three concerts I went too (Moving Pictures, Signals and Grace Under Pressure). Truly indeed a legend in Progressive Rock music (and music in general).

A farewell to “a” King...

Yes it is but 2112 is it for me, my favourite song every as well album by any band. The lyrics that man wrote, simply amazing some of it, they were definitely the thinking mans genre in music. What a band, at least I got through that one without tearing up again. The shorter songs were good, great really, but I loved the longer ones the Xanadu, 2112, or Hemispheres Cygnus X1, the ones that told a story or christ Circumstances from that album. Freewill I lived my life based on that tunes inspiration, so many great songs. We all go in the end but damn same thing as got Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip. Got to see them once too another great band.

Very great drummer ... very sad way to go ... after loosing his daughter, then his first love of his life to the same killer that eventually took him.

Grew up in the same hood as on of the bandmates, actually a neighbouring street and saw them hanging out. At the time I had no idea yet one of the older guys in the area definitely did and took a log time getting autographs and asking all kinds of musician questions. Their chill responses and encouraging words really was nice to see.
