I'm thinking about switching from my 2011 13" MBP to a Thinkpad 13

http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-13-series/20GJ-MT/p/22TP2TX132E20GJ

I'm a bioengineering student, my main use of the computer is MatLab and some code in VS or Arduino IDE (I know, it doesn't need an i5 to run)
Thoughts on this machine? Seems to be a good value for money, 10 years ago I had an IBM T22 and I cried when it broke in 2012

Thanks for your answers on this topic!

Literally just ordered a ThinkPad E470. I've come from using a 13" 2012 MBP. Keyboard failed and apple are anal about providing genuine parts for us enthusiasts to fit.

I could have afforded the base TP 13 but opted for the E series as it was lower cost but could be specked with a Graphics chip, SSD and full HD screen cheaper than a TP 13. But as it's the lowest cost option, not sure what to expect. The TP 13 is probably more of a 'real TP' where less cost saving can be seen so in that sense maybe it's built better

Will be interesting to see what you think of it, I've just pet in an M900 tiny as a desktop and media trail, I have a 9.7 iPad Pro but fancy some type of laptop for on couch heavy work.

Thinkpad 13 is not bad at all. My wife uses one, coming from a MBP. The keyboard is not as great as the T series but miles better than the current MBPs. The screen is decent. The fingerprint sensor is the old style of swiping down. This is not as great as the newer sensors they have on the T and the Yoga series.

If you can stretch for the T470, that would be my choice else Thinkpad 13 is not bad at all

Just a follow up to my first response. I'm now selling my ThinkPad.

The hardware is fantastic, great keyboard and screen. Beautiful design and all.

I can't get to grips with Windows.

But I can tell you this, I have the E series (cheapest) and it's great. So the TP 13 must be even better physically!
