I am planning on upgrading from Tiger to Leopard by cloning to external, Erase + Install and then using migration assistant. Here are my questions:

    1. Can I control what I want migration assistant to bring over? For instance I do not want it bringing over every application that I may have installed.

    2. Does migration assistant run during the installation? If you skip it during installation, can it be run afterwards manually?

    Thanks for any help.

    1) no I dont think so, you cn choose to not bring over applications at all, or choose to rbing them all over. I sugest you just bring them all over then user something like AppZapper (google it) to get rid of the ones you dont want.

    2) Yes, just go to your applications folder, then your utilities folder from there. You will find an app called "migration assistant" use that, its exactly the same as during the first installation of OS X.
