Leopard Install - Time Machine Restore - SAMBA

Hi

I backup my leopard install over samba to my fileserver, this works fine. I would like to do a clean install of leopard and then 'import' this backup, somehow. If i used an external disk i believe i can import this at install time but i imagine this is not possible using a network drive.

Does anyone have any comments on the best approach to getting a clean install and then importing the data back while not having a USB/Firewire disk etc?
