Every time I reboot, Leopard decides to revert a variety of settings (like "Open with..." and my default browser) back to the Apple defaults: Quicktime, Safari, etc.

I've disabled MobileMe and ran Repair Permissions in the Disk Utility, but that hasn't had any effect. I searched around about this but didn't find much.

Please help.

I want to say that it could be a dead CMOS battery, but that couldn't be it... could it?

I don't think so. These preferences should be saved on the hard drive, so they don't require the CMOS battery when the power is off.
