Leopard Mail: Creating duplicates for new mailboxes

Ok... So I'm loving Leopard so far... but I have one little annoyance. When I create a new mailbox (on my computer) in mail, it creates TWO of them! I have 2 accts set up (.mac & gmail - both IMAP). Why is it doing this? One folder set says its looking to .Mac... the other doesnt pull up any info at all. I just need some folders on my local computer to organize email so my iPhone & .Mac email doesnt get too full. Help please!
