Leopard Mail data detectors - old hat?

    I've been making good use of Mail's new data detectors to add iCal events & Address Book entries. Talking with some of my PC-using friends about how nice the feature is, they've replied:

    I don't know a lot about Outlook, but are they talking about the same feature here?

    It was actually part of OS9, IIRC..but it disappeared for a bit.

    Yes, "smart tags" have existed since either Office XP or 2003. Having written one myself, I hate the bloody things :p

    I am pretty dang sure Apple STILL beat everyone to this with the Newton Message Pad. 1996-ish?

    Didn't NEXT have this with Nest Step in the early 90s?
