I am about to update my computer to leopard. I was wondering if it was possible with bootcamp to create a vista and/or xp machine which resides on an external hard drive only, to conserve my laptops hard drive as i wont be using windows much at all. Also, a time machine question. Is it possible to allocate a small amount of disc space to time machine, then plug in an external hard drive and dump the data to conserve disc space?

Windows will not run on an external drive. USB boot is not supported by Microsoft. Now some users have gotten eSATA drives to work by opening the MacPro and stringing a cable to the outside but this is really an internal drive as far as Windows is concerned.

Cheers,
