It's really up to you and whether or not you have any applications that aren't compatible with SL. You'll probably be fine with the upgrade even if it isn't totally "necessary."

For me, my mac came with Leopard installed. I used it for a while, but did not like some of the changes from Tiger>Leopard. I installed Snow Leopard and enjoy it much more. There are little things that have been changed that I did not like in Leopard. Very Happy with Snow Leopard! Try it out. If you don't like certain aspects, give Snow Leopard a try.

Should be totally fine. I actually didn't even do a fresh install on my unibody; just upgraded to SL when it came out & my macbook was almost a year old.

Back up all your stuff just in case, but try the upgrade first and if everything works then you're good!

this SL that Apple are selling for $29 is that just an update disc or is it the full thing so i could do a fresh install if wanted. Does it give you an option on what you want to do when you insert the disc?

MSn7 sucks, use Adium instead! It is much better.

It is an upgrade disk, but allows you to do a clean install as well.
