One of my favorites is maps... I use it frequently to mark my location and send my location... Helps me to remember where I parked and share my location with friends when I'm meeting up with them or to show them where I am in transit.

3D touch is still new and there is really no use for it as of yet, at least until apple comes out with the new IOS version.

I actually use it for the Phone app all the time ... running the current iOS version, no less! ;)

Keyboard trackpad is probably the most useful addition that 3DTouch brought. It is so much better than moving the cursor with your finger. This is my most used 3D Touch feature.

Also, fast app switching by pressing on the left edge then swiping is another nice feature.

For those of you having trouble with 3D Touch on the keyboard as trackpad, try this. When you force touch to enable the cursor movement, once you place it somewhere, let your finger off the display. Wait for the cursor to blink at least once, then feel free to force touch and move it again. The problem currently is that when you raise and lower your finger without waiting to see the cursor blink, it won't allow you to move the cursor with 3D Touch again. Not a perfect solution but I think it was intended to work this way and Apple will realize it's not the most sensical way to do it and hopefully refine it more in the future.

Maybe cause Force Touch != 3D Touch... dunno
How so? I was under the impression the only reason the phrase 3D Touch exists is because Apple can't use Force Touch on a phone because that phrase belongs to Huawei. I could definitely be wrong, but it's seems the combinations of capacitive sensors and linear actuators perform the same functionality in Force/3D Touch. 3D Touch may be more sensitive but that seems like a difference without a distinction.

3D Touch on the Trackpad is so annoying. It works the first time you try it, but when you lift your finger, the cursor often moves. When you go to deep press again to activate the cursor, it doesn't work, so then you just have to long press on the text to fix the cursor placement, negating the benefits of 3D Touch.

Apple- please fix this! It's clearly software that's moving the cursor as I lift my finger (something that doesn't happen while traditionally long-pressing), and preventing me from re-activating the 3D Touch cursor a second time.
It seems, even after almost 10 years Apple can't get text selection right on iOS.

iOS 7's GUI with everything now being razor thin and flat and sleek doesn't help either.

3D Touch or not, text selection is the most infuriating thing that has been left unfixed on iOS imho.

It's one of these things where you're left wondering if the people developing iOS are actually using it.

Another pet peeve of mine is how you're expected to look and wait in awe for every animation to finish.
App Switcher scrolling anyone? My God, I swear I want iOS 6's switcher back where after a scroll everything snapped into place ready to be tapped and selected.
Back then I had many more reasons to jailbreak and although a lot of things have bettered since then and I haven't jailbroken for a long time now, even when I had iOS and used a jailbreak tweak for the app previews it was a whole lot less finicky.
This one got it right: http://www.idownloadblog.com/2012/12/20/aux/

The previews were smaller, but you also stayed in the context of the app you were in. I liked it.
Don't mind the big previews nowadays, but the scrolling has to get fixed.

Based on the comments, it seems trouble with keyboard 3D touch for cursor and text selection is a common problem.

Try this:

Instead of just slamming down on the keyboard with heavy pressure, start off light (a letter will pop up)
Then, without lifting that finger, press with more pressure.

That's it! Works everytime.

If you want to select text, release a little pressure and then press harder.

THERES NO POINT OF 3D TOUCH. It should disappear with the iPhone 7 and let's all pretend like it never happened.
Seems like this very article describes plenty of points.
3D touch is still new and there is really no use for it as of yet, at least until apple comes out with the new IOS version.
And yet things mentioned in this article are used by many people and apply to the current iOS version.

This is SPOT ON. I always have the same issue.

I know those features exist and still wows me how awesome 3D Touch is. Then I start acting like I'm glad I had those features it's very convenient start playing around. Ten minutes later I forgot I have that feature on my iPhone. LOL!

The keyboard curser is average at best, i often use it if i need to correct a spelling but it nearly always moves the curser one place to the left or right when i lift my finger

I use it for the text edit and the switching apps. I've been using the 3D touch since it's been out, but only recently realized that I've been pressing too hard, too quickly. Like when using the text cursor feature, it would be hit or miss. I've only recently realized it's not only about the amount of pressure, but when the pressure is applied.

If you press hard on your initial contact with the screen, iOS won't be able to register the "peek" part. So if you lightly place your finger on the screen, initiate contact (50 millisecs?) then apply a little more pressure, it will always work. In my mind it was always just "if you apply this amount of pressure, it will activate peek/pop". I think they need to refine this because if you just press really hard on the side of the screen to activate app switch, there isn't a problem.

I have used it but I don't use it regularly. Seemed to shorten movements that were already pretty quick. Also have a hard time getting consistency out of the function, especially if I'm out in the cold (which happens regularly). Having to fumble with a shortcut twice makes it the long way of doing something so I usually just skip it.

I mostly use Workflow and Chronicle's home screen shortcuts (I wish more were like those). Going to specific things in apps is a nice idea, but once you learn the three taps or whatever it takes within the app, it's harder to break that habit. But I don't use Launcher/Launch Center Pro because of it anymore.

Being able to 3D Touch something, pull it up and get a menu to copy/delete/share is nice too. I wish that was just a simple hold gesture though.

3D Touch worked great on my 6S when I first got it. Then it didn't. I mean, it works perfect when I use it one time. Go to use it a 2nd time and I get no response from it. It's really annoying. Multiple reboots have no effect.
