Guys,
Apple is now worse than Lenovo. Their trash daemons, services and other unuseful crap, bloated year after year, makes OS so un-sexy. Let us discuss what is safe to unload on startup.

Such are:
CallHistoryPluginHelper - I don't have any iPhone, and I will never buy one. Why is this service ON? Stupidity is limitless.
callservicesd ??
com.apple.geod ??
Please, all Photos-trash should be unloaded too.
findmydeviced
bird..
etc etc.

For that purpose we can use a wonderful http://www.soma-zone.com/LaunchControl/
Can we make a list what can be unloaded without causing problem?

I would have to say the average person, I believe, will never realize the under the cover daemons and such you are going on about. I wouldn't, in any way, compare this to programs pop up, are actually seen by again the average person.

Photos trash? A lot of people use that App, just do not launch it or trash it yourself.

This is worse than people complaining about tiny icons on their phone for apps they couldn't remove like it was the end of the world.

Stupidity is limitless.
So you're accusing Apple of limitless studidity because they have some deamons/services running. I kind of think they have done that so they can provide the best experience for the consumer. Do you have any statistics/numbers to backup that your system is using less CPU or memory from turning off these services? I'm of the opinion that if there any savings it will be so small, its not worth the risk of impacting stability or functionality.

Maybe consider a nice, bare bones Linux distro for your needs
My very thoughts when I was typing in my post.

Unlike Windows that has bloatware that is difficult to remove and has a definite impact to performance, macOS has these to provide the best experince for its customers. Granted not all customers does not need every single feature that the OS provides but they're ready for you if you need one.

No doubt. Maybe the OP should compile their own distro, because (oh my gosh) the SSH or cups daemon is running and I don't need that! (waves arms frantically) LOL

I'm tired of people expecting every company to cater their specific needs. They expect to put no effort into the experience at all.

I see no issues with any of these daemons running. They don't really do anything that bothers me.

I'm not having any issues with these extra services running in the background. If I never access the app, well the service never wholly runs, so its nothing I'm going to worry about if it just sits there, waiting if there's one day I might utilize something and then thank a developer that it just works! ;)

Like others have said, it sounds like you want something like Bodhi Linux that has practically nothing installed from the start, and you only load it with what you want on it. That clearly isn't for everyone.

Is this subversive advertising for LaunchControl ?

If I ever decide to move away from Apple, then it would be Kali Linux.

Hehe. One post prior you're asking for statistics for that type of claim and then you do it yourself.

I can post what I think and ask for statistics or source material. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Since you're asking, I'm happy to provide source material that substaniates my opinion that blaotware slows down PCs.

Have you bought a Lenovo recently?! The amount of adware crap on these sub $1000 laptops is near INSANE. Just opening a new laptop you get 4-5 3rd party programs asking for registration and monthly subscriptions.

This in no way compares to Apple in the slightest... <sigh>

I've spent 15+ years in IT and now I'm a C# programmer. First thing you'd want to do with a Windows laptop from anyone, even Dell (unless it is their business lineup of which they do better with the adware bloat) - uninstall everything that is third party.

Having actually seen a new Lenovo laptop that a coworker bought (recently), this post makes me laugh because it couldn't be further from the truth.

Ah. Given the OP, I thought you meant Microsoft-written system services. I agree that OEM bloatware is trash. IMO the way to go with a Windows computer is to do a clean install from a virgin MS .iso on day 1.

He's making a statement of fact, that macOS is being slowed down by bloatware. I'm just asking for source material to substantiate that claim. I'm not looking for details on the services and how each service impacts the cpu.

No argument, I think Lenovo is probably one of the worst offenders, HP is no slouch as well. The last PC I bought was a MS Surface Book and that had zero bloatware. If I were to go that route again, I would look at MS or a vendor that sells those Premier editions (no bloatware).

Agreed 100%. I have a 2011 Mac Mini, 2014 Mac Mini, 2 2015 Macbook Air 11 --- Apple doesn't even have bloatware by the definition in my opinion - let alone to the point of slowing down the computer. Sure, I swapped out the spinners in both Minis for SSDs - and the 2011 Mini runs super smooth even with Chrome and Office running (8GB of ram).

My coworker bought a Lenovo in the last few months and I was offended by what I saw - popups asking for registration and monthly subscriptions, 10+ apps running in the background that were by definition 3rd party adware.

My brother bought a Dell XPS 13 laptop a few weeks ago and bam instantly was confronted with tons of adware - spent 20 mins uninstalling all that stuff for him.

As @frou, I too reformat and reload windows, on a brand new PC. I was pleasently surprised to see my Surface Book have no bloatware (I still reformated/resintalled).

All in all, I'm waiting for Apple to roll out their 2018 models, and if it has what I need, I'll take the plunge. I use windows quite a bit, but I prefer Macs (and macOS).

The Microsoft Store actually sells PCs without bloatware (called "Signature Edition"). The last PC I bought was a Signature Edition HP tablet with (real) Windows 8. It was nice to not have to deal with bloatware, which they literally call "pre-installed junk that slows down your PC."

I don’t think you understand what bloat means. The footprint of those daemons in so marginal that it neither impacts your disk or memory usage. What’s more consuming of resources is to install a bloated 3rd Party app which consumes lots of disk space and does who knows what to the integrity of your system. Don’t be fooled by flashy pictures!

Some people will argue because the sky is blue. It’s what they do.

My nephew’s PC had so much bloatware doing the pop ups at startup that they used to fight with one another to be the front most app. This caused cpu to be pegged at 100% and the fan blare like a vacuum. We just reinstalled from scratch as life is too short. This was XP.

I got rid of my Samsung Note because every day a bunch of crap was on my phone..

I purchased my wife a new laptop (windows) last year and it was full of bloatware..

Offtopic:
Did he seriously get to register the username "Apple" on macrumors in 2016? No one did this before him?

This more suprising than any bloatware on any laptop or phone

Ontopic:
If these couple internal deamons like geo stuff are really bothering you that much, dont look at the windows home phoning deamons and tools which are not 3rd party - just to prevent you from a heart attack.
