I haven't put it on the wireless charger yet, waiting for it to get down to about 50%.
Thanks, yes you are getting very good battery use. Far better than mine, very interested in seeing what happens alter. Are you on wifi or cell network for that 1 hour 55 min?

Yeah, that is more than double what I get. Oh well, here I go again, new battery.

So life should be better on wifi than my Verizon, as I understand, but these numbers are more than double of what I get.

That’s normal.

I get 60% additional usage on WiFi as compared to 4G. Maybe the difference is like:

X% is 4 hrs WiFi
Same X% is 2.5 hrs 4G usage.

I'd say it's a pretty solid mix of WiFi and cellular. I sometimes have to turn the WiFi off when I'm at work because for some reason my iCloud email won't update when connected to work WiFi.

My battery usage is @ 8 Hours 45 Minutes
25 Hours 30 Minutes battery percentage 5%
Wifi switched off 4g only 9 episodes netflix 30 minutes each and rest on Tuneinradio pro and safari.

WAY better than I would get on my 4g, WAY better. Well, I guess once again I have a bad battery in my X. sigh

Tunein? I use progressive voices.

Y'all realize that this is apples and oranges right? If I'm tethering to my laptop, brightness all the way up, 1 bar of reception, streaming something to my Apple TV, and playing some heavy game my minutes usage are going to be a lot less than someone who has brightness all the way down, only using Kindle to read a book they downloaded already, sitting next to a WiFi Router with solid cell reception will have far more minutes used.

Just putting that out there. I am usually a light cellphone user and can get 3-5 days out of a single charge on my 8+. My wife will go through a charge on her 8+ in 3/4th a day because she uses social media, talks to her friends a lot, watches videos, snapchat, Facebook, etc...

Yes, aware of all that. What started it for me "this time" was the instant, very noticeable reduction in battery % after using a WIRELESS charger, and I used both of the ones Apple recommends.

OK cool. I've noticed that using a wireless charger usually results in me not getting a true 100% charge, thus the perception that I get less charge out of a wireless charger than a wired. If you use coconutBattery, you'll notice that the phone still draws current after it reports 100% on the phone's screen, and that can continue for some time. Then the phone stays at 100% for a long time before dropping. With my wireless chargers they don't seem to do that, but sure is convenient setting down my phone on one at work. :p

Coconut?

I tried Belkin and Mophie, then a guy at Costco cell store said the Samsung they sell has a fan in it and would be better and then somewhere else I read that the fan doesn't engage unless it is going over 7.5 w or over 5 w not sure which, dont remember now.

You are saying unlike when you wire/wall charge and leave it like overnight and you stay at 100% for a long time while first using it, if you wireless charge you dont get that long time using while it says 100%, right? That is what I experience also. So is the wireless NOT charging it fully? I left it on the Belkin wireless all night and still got crappy use.

Yeah, I connect my phone to my MacBook and use coconutBattery (an application for Mac OS only) - https://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/ to monitor the true charge level of the phone.

My phone has only gotten super hot once on a wireless charger, when I put it on kinda crooked. The phone and the charger were burning otherwise they only get "warm". So I make a lot of effort to put the phone directly on the wireless charger now.

It's my guess that the wireless chargers don't do as good of a job to get to true 100% charge as wired. That's my "guess" - hopefully smarter posters will come in and correct me. :)

The interesting thing is it still says it is 100%, oh well.

I also now notice my registers or counters for "usage and standby" go back to zero and start over when I charge to 90%, it has always only reset when you charge to 100%. But not now.

Just curious, have you tried a fresh install of the iOS? It could be that there is a bug in the software that is preventing a full charge.

Battery: 70%

wow, amazing. thanks for the info

Not yet, and when I charge with the wall charger it does get much much better life.

Right now I am at

2 hr 24 min
6 hr 26 min
78%

So FAR less than almost everyone here. A complete reinstall means doing all apps over again, I forget what it would mean, I guess I could try it. Reset all settings, is that a complete redo?

So one thing I just noticed...

This RavPower wireless charger I bought has a status light on it. It says when its blinking green, that it is charging. When at 100%, it will turn solid green for 15 seconds and then turn off.

The phone says it is at 100%, but the status light on the charger is still blinking.

Edit: Guess it just took the charger a minute or two to realize the phone was full. Just as a reference point: 2:35pm on the East coast. 100% / 0 min usage and standby. Charged from 79% to 100% wirelessly.

Recent X owner, yeah I know why now. Lol.

Here are my stats:

Battery - 80%
Standby - 15 hours
Usage - 2 hours and 42 mins

60/40 mix of lte and WiFi

Charged it full last night, unplugged at 11 PM. Was still 100% when I woke up.

Current Stats:
95%
Usage:1 hr 56 minute
Standby - 14 h 44 minute.

This is ridiculous.

Anyone wanna tell me how he can get 2 hours of usage with 5%?

Have you had Apple check out your phone, sounds like you may have a bad battery or something.

There are a lot of variables, but it isn’t impossible to get almost 2 hours out of 5% battery, especially if the user is using a dark wallpaper or “dark” mode on the iPhone X with an OLED.

Edit: By dark mode I mean that the user can use the inverse colors feature on the iPhone X and get some of the power savings benefits of dark mode on an OLED screen.

No Apple around me, there is a private shop Apple authorized, I will ask them but they will tell me it is 97% good as that is what the battery says, I will change battery anyway which might do nothing. I guess I have to do a complete reset somehow.

That stinks. Before you do all that, maybe wait until iOS 12 comes out, it could very well be that the current update 11.4 has some software issue with wireless charging, that will be corrected on the next update. Especially if it works fine with wall plugging like you said, it would indicate a possible software issue.

Did you have this issue on older updates?

We have two issues, one is far less battery use after wireless charging. The other is comparing to some of these other numbers when I wall charge.

For me I have never had better than one hour use per 10% of battery, I am lucky if I get that on a regular basis. Now I thought that was normal, but after wireless charging I was getting about 60-70% of that.

If one hour of use per 10% is far far LESS than most get, then I have never had an Apple phone that worked properly. And I have had 6, 6S plus and now a X.

The first 1% you can get 30-45m of usage. It’s a known bug with all iPhones.

Your signal is probably to blame. You don’t have “bad” luck. I keep my phone pretty dim and don’t use many intensive apps, so my battery life is good. What are your 5 most used apps or whatever?

SiriusXM...Stitcher...candy crush...not much else, i listen to podcasts all day

Well that’s why your usage is so low. You’re constantly draining the battery with podcasts. Most people who get stellar battery life use their phone for reddit, Instagram, safari and messaging mostly. My guess is your signal stinks and it’s hard for your phone to stay connected to your podcast. Are you usually around 1-2 bars?
