Does that depend on the baseband of the can used and is the string tethered?

I'm afraid that the string is tethered. I was talking to Comex earlier, and he was telling me that it's just impossible to untether a string. The can on the other hand has a wide open bootrom.

The can jailbreak will be called T1nSn1p$.

chiming in for Ghettro

I'm a Ghettro customer and I can verify that their stores are low-class and 90% of their phones are more trouble than they're worth. I stayed away from them for ages due to their terrible intarwebz reputation of having crap coverage, frequent drop-outs, and black holes. Everywhere I looked, people said that the reception was spotty at best.

But then I looked a bit deeper and found that they're just another company that rides on Sprint's network. Seeing as how I'd started out with a Sprint phone in '03 and then switched to Helio in '07 (another, now-defunct, carrier that used Sprint's network almost exclusively), it seemed to me that the signal/service ought to be exactly the same as I'd always had. so I took a chance, went to Ghettro, did my research, picked out a well-made phone, and made the switch.

The result? I have the exact same service I'd always had. I live in Emeryville, CA - right across the bridge from "the city". I've since traveled to San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, LA, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Plano, Kansas City, Chicago, & New York, and it's been the same. No inordinate dropouts, no frequently-dropped calls, no new black holes - nothing. Same reliable service that I've always had. The only difference I've experienced is that my cell phone bill is now currently $40/month. I used to pay $108 & some change.

I had metropcs for about 2 years...

- The service was VERY GOOD in Dallas TX;
- No contracts;
- Unlimited everything;
- Unlimited International calls for $5 (or, used to be);
- Unlimited international txting;

🙁

- phones suck;
- phones are expensive;
- internet was SUPER SLOW and boring;
- No Sim card to swipe in between phones (CDMA duh!);

My friends love the iPhone, but they won't give up the $5 unlimited international call on metropcs.
They are paying the SAME amount I'm paying on AT&T and they use those CRAPPY phones and CRAPPY internet... I don't get that...

Anyway.. just a thought.. 🙂

MetroPOS, i know ppl that have that pos service, never get any text message or phone call. I hope no iphone have to suffer on that metro crap.

For those that talk about MetroPCS, but want the phone to make it to Sprint, do a little research and find out who owns Metro... (And virgin mobile) That should tell you what towers are used... And yes, everyone I know that has made the move of going to Metro is sorry...

Where is the info on using Verizon iPhone on Metropcs network?

I never understood why people always bash Metropcs. I used it 5 years ago and then again recently with no problems! Now I can make calls inside a building. Actually I had more issues using the ATT network than Metropcs. Unlimited everything for only $50 bucks a month, WITH NO CONTRACT!!! The only issue I have is the type of phones that are available. But now thats changing with their new line of smartphones. I guess the other issue I have with Metropcs is the quality and type of customers it draws. Every time I go to one of the Metropcs stores, I feel like if I'm going to be attacked or robbed by someone. The people are ghetto behaved. Quite a scary situation.

I miss using an iPhone and really wanted to use it's Verizon version on Metropcs CDMA network. Any response from the original thread started here? Thanks

This may come as a surprise to you, but the Verizon iPhone 4 is technically the better model than AT&T. It has longer battery life and contains the Qualcomm Gobi chip that AT&T lacks. This move to Verizon is not only to expand marketshare, but for Apple to get ready for LTE and go global. iPad 2 is rumored to have LTE. By next year, you can walk into an Apple Store, buy an iPhone, and pick your carrier. Easier for the less tech savvy, johnny-come-lately Apple fans that hopped on the bandwagon after 2001 (iPod/iPhone era). Nomore different iPhones to confuse people. You can already see GSM/CDMA combos starting to appear for HTC phones.

slower data is not better
lack of simultaneous voice and data is not better
being stuck on the mainland with CDMA is not better
Verizon customer service is not better
Verizon rate plans are not better

and next year you will STILL have to kiss the ring of a carrier to get an iPhone

You have no Idea what you are talking about! GSM is superior to CDMA and Verizon is phasing out CDMA over the next 5 to 10 years.

Right as the new Iphone 5 will be both GSM and CDMA, BTW again you have no idea about the Iphone market since its been global since 1st gen! I have lived in Europe and most of Europe and the world is GSM..... not CDMA....... AT&T has LTE NOW. WOW😎

Label on "ghetto "

Honestly, people- would you call the unfortunate people that have lost their jobs, loved ones,etc. that live the in the "suburbs" that can no longer afford the outrageous costs of the "premium"carriers "ghetto"? There but for the GRACE OF GOD GO YOU!!! Really..all of you ignorant losers,get a life! I almost feel sorry for you..but you know what?? I DON'T!!!

people with sub-par credit shouldn't be increasing their debt load by subscribing to an iPhone plan.

those people shouldn't really be buying iPhones though

You people really are oblivious to how credit actually works aren't you? You can have bad credit for 7+ years, just cause you have lower credit doesn't mean you're a broke SOB. You can have everything paid off and still have piss poor credit for a very long time. Some people choose not to have any credit at all and just pay upfront for their purchases. I haven't used either of those companies, but a lot of times if you dont travel much, regional carriers can often be better than the big dogs. Just look at how highly rated US Cellular is. Ignorance is not a badge to wear around...

I understand how it works. I know that you can in reality be very realiable, or that you had a rocky past but have since fixed things in your life...but that is not generally the case unfortunatley. People in this country take advantage of credit to spend beyond their means, which is a big reason for the poor economic state. These are the people that will buy iPhones at full price and flash them to Metro PCS...but it doesn't mean they should

I had to register just to post a reply. First of all, I think the original poster has an awesome idea. Flashing the iPhone to Cricket or MetroPCS, a 4g phone on a flat rate plan = Awesome. It's a lot better than being capped on data every month and paying big bucks for subpar service.

I left Verizon to go to MetroPCS. With Verizon I have had more than my share of phones and service with them for four years. I didn't leave because of credit issues. I left because Verizon changed my number and then pro-rated my calls for the month and dropped my shared plane from 1000 minutes to 640 minutes for the month and couldn't explain to me what they did, they apologized but they refused to credit me the overage in minutes they charged me. I said, Goodbye Verizon. No more contract, especially since they breached the contract I had with them and they just said, oh we're sorry, that was their apology.

With MetroPCS, I get unlimited everything. So my data speeds are 1x (2g) no big deal if I am just using it to check facebook, twitter, etc. Google, fine. Tapatalk makes most forums load fast, and I am paying less for unlimited everything then I did with Verizon with no data!

The credit thing is bullcrap when it comes to cell phones. Any sales rep will try to sell you a phone whether your credit is good or not, sometimes they are so desperate to make a sale with their quotas on the bigger carries some of them will try to waive the deposit and start asking oh which company do you work for.. we have a discount for their employees.. ** yawn.

MetroPCS is rolling out 4G LTE, and although some devs and network enthusiasts say its only 3g on steroids, speeds have been reported at 2-3.5MBs per second, and guess what Low low low monthly plan! Verizon, Att cannot beat that. Sprint, has an unlimited plan but its pretty high in my opinion for their lack of better service.

Spending more on service for limits does not make you smarter or have better credit. It just means you are willing to spend more money on a name. It's comparable to living back in the 1980s in a upper-to-rich middle class neighborhood and you are embarrassed to shop at Walmart. When all the people started saying "I want to save money" then they shopped at Walmart and it became an everyday retailer.

MetroPCS is about to be the fourth largest cell phone carrier, see http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2011/03...de-the-att-mobile-merger-possible/#more-55035 .

and to further my support of MetroPCS see this quote "MetroPCS has been placed on the FORTUNE Magazine 2010 "100 Fastest-Growing Companies" list. To qualify, companies had to meet stringent financial performance criteria. The full story appears in the September 6, 2010 issue of FORTUNE." http://www.metropcs.com/about/careers.aspx

I am soon about to flash my droid 1 over to MetroPCS as well. I already rooted my optimus m and will eventually get an out of network 4g LTE phone and flash to Metro, I'll pay 60 a month for 4G speeds while everyone else on the bigger networks can enjoy their data caps of ROFLOL 200 MB per month on some carriers 😀

I give much props to the original poster of this thread. There's nothing wrong with taking technology and moving to where you would like it to be, that's innovation and progress. By the way, Metro leases off Verizon/Sprints Towers. So go ahead and pay your verizon and sprint phone bills, because I'm using the same network for talk+text+sometimes web at a cheaper price!

i have included all files you will need (except your prl)

you need to be jailbroken for this to work.

1- download the diskaid file to pc.

2, rename your prl to 310VZW.prl and place it in a folder on your pc

3, open diskaid, plug your phone,when it shows up navigate on diskaid to

/system/library/carrier bundles/iphone/310vzw or zeppelin_us.bundle it doesnt matter which,they both write back to each other.

there you will see the 310VZW.prl file.

4, now open the file you renamed with your prl and simply drag and drop the one you rename onto the one thats in the diskaid window and click overwrite to the warning that
pops up,it will overwrite it,then close all that out,the rest is done on the device.

5,open cydia via wi-fi and tap manage/sources/edit/add

then type this new source in sinfuliphonerepo.com then click add source.

then click ok to the warning it throws.

after it updates click return to cydia tap the new source you just added and scroll down

to iFile Cracked then tap install,then confirm,then go to it on your springboard open it &

navagate to /system/library/carrier bundles/iphone/310vzw or zeppelin_us.bundle

tap which ever one you choose to open it,tap carrier plist,then tap property list viewer, then scroll down to just below the signatures to prlpushflag and switch the boolean to show on. tap done.

6, power off phone,then back on.

7, then go back to the boolean we just changed,and change it to off again,

8, then power iphone 4 back off,and then on again.

done. check by dialing *#5005*4357# then send

below is diskaid--

oh and i highly recommend while your in the sin-i-repo to install mi-wi cracked for your free hotspot,and TethrMe Cracked for your apn's (cellular data network tab) for free also.

thats it enjoy!

Hey, RBburrus,
is this for just talk&text or would internet work too?

As of right now it is just talk text however the one i just flashed after putting it on the 55 dollar plan it sits on 3g and the internet works sometimes not all the time as far as MMS is concerned you just have to download a 3rd party MMS provider you can find one for free in sinful or on cydia

I believe someone already flashed a CDMA i4 to ghetto ass cricket last year.

Plus, come on, what same person with a iPhone would use Cricket or MetroPCS?
