Features:
- new logo placement
- big circles surrounding the tiny camera sensors so that it creates the illusion they're big and better
- all the marketing in the event
- same design/sizes to cut costs and use the same factory moulds/matrices
- same resolutions, ppi density
- "liquid retina" for the new XR/11

Beyond rant, my opinions:
- cameras will be top notch, but idk for: night sight, 4k 60fps ultra wide and super steady mode for 4k 60fps (these last 2 only on LG's, note 10 doesn't have them) maybe some 4k hdr10, let's see
- lots of gimmicks, some of them quite useful
- WiFi 6
- reverse charging
- iOs 13 looks nice

Why don’t we wait for the initial announcement before we start ranting?

Perhaps those big circles around the cameras are space for the cameras to wiggle to compensate for an unsteady hand.

They never make the new iPhone too amazing some features always get deliberately left out to make you want to update again next year.

Yeah that's why my guess is that next year's 2020 iPhone:

+ WILL have 5G, as it's main selling feature; this is obvious
+ MAY have back-side wireless charging, which is now dropped from this year's 2019
- PROBABLY WILL NOT have in-screen TouchID (until 2021, if it ever actually happens)
- WILL NOT switch to USB-C (until 2021, if not 2025)
- WILL NOT have a new screen & form factor (until 2021)

Apple tends to work on 4-year hardware cycles: iPhone 4/4S/5/5S, iPhone 6/6s/7/8, iPhone X/XS/11/2020(?).

So I suspect the biggest hardware features won't happen until 2021.

Now Ming says that reverse charging and the Apple Pencil support are off the table. Hope he is wrong. Not because I necessarily cared about either, but because it would be two less features on a very short (rumored) list of upgrades.

I actually was hoping for bilateral charging, specifically for a top off charge for my AirPods or Apple Watch when need be, etc. I think it would be nice to have, even if it is slow, But it is what it is.

No more Intel until 2021...Apple made an settlement for the next 3 years and bought the modem Intel division
They are using the same intel modem this year. Next year they will be switching back to qualcomm and a 5G modem. It will be the same crappy intel modem for this year’s models.

I'm gonna hurl if the majority of today is spent on Arcade+ subscription, AppleTV+ subscription, basic iPad rev, and Tag!

Might be time for me to just wait and see what the Pixel 4 is doing next month, with it's souped-up cameras (already the best of class)! o_O

Rumor has it that Apple originally had intended to do away with the clock in the new iphones. They decided that their customers really don't want a clock in the phone because the watch does all that. But then they decided to put this off till next year and instead decided that their customers wanted a compass in the watch instead.
Stunning!

Not going to lie or sugarcoat, that was the most brutal/boring/uninspiring keynote I've ever seen Apple put on. The amount of quibbles, and failure to highlight one smoking gun feature. I'm too tired to elaborate, but it's rare that something that is promised to be overly underwhelming actually surpasses and is entirely underwhelming.

Man, I feel like there was a changing of the guard there today. Phil was the worst of any presenter, like dude how many times do you want me to get excited about the camera, stop repeating yourself. I honestly think Apple could use some new youthful input/leadership etc... It's getting harder and harder to disguise what's going on over there.

Sigh, I've bought myself some time, but there's a decision to be made somewhere down the line. Hopefully Apple can step back from the precipice.
