Other Let’s talk about docking issues with the Ultra

If the rumors are true and we do not get magnetic charging (bummer), it’s gonna get a little dicey if you regularly use docking solutions in both open and closed mode like I currently do. Of course, I’m using a iPhone Mini and an iPad Mini now that represents these usages, but soon I will need solutions for one device. With the Ultra closed, that’s pretty easy…..it will mean to return to the old Lightning docks that that I still use at home for the iPhone Mini, updated for USB, of course (see first pic). However, docking while open represents a bigger challenge because in landscape mode, the port will be on the bottom right side. When I’m at work, I currently just have my iPad Mini on a stand and just plug in the power cord by hand (see second pic), but this won’t work with the Ultra because the plug will be on the bottom right.

Thoughts?

this will likely only be an issue if caseless. if there is in fact no built in magsafe there will 100% be cases that add on the magsafe functionality

We’ll still need special docks for when it’s open in landscape mode as the MagSafe contact would be on the right side, no?
