Something we’ve known for a long time, how far advanced Apple CPU chips are compared to its competitors.

It always puzzled me when you have companies like Google who has a software based app that takes advantage of hardware acceleration to perform its image processing on its camera that Apple hasn’t caught up, until now.

Bionic A13 is 70% faster on the core process than the fastest snapdragon chip by QUALCOMM or Samsung. That’s nothing to sneeze at.

Imagine how much more you can actually do if you can intuitively use this unbridled “idle” power.

The camera upgrade in just one year from XS to 11 Pro camera functionality and performance is a HUGE leap for Apple but only a small incremental upgrade against its competitors now that software filtering via hardware acceleration on pictures is being utilized.

This leaves me questioning how much further can Apple actually take it?

Without being a follower but a leader in this technology using Apple’s superior Bionic chips that supersede anything their competition can keep up with, it would leave their competition in the dust.

Secondly, why can’t Apple add 1-2 more GB of RAM to keep background open apps from refreshing when you re-open them?

It’s holding thier CPU back from its true potential.

It’s sad to see Apple smoke android phones opening apps in speed tests, only to get passed up by having to refresh reopening background apps.

It can easily be solved by a little more RAM. It’s the only thing holding them back from crushing it when their CPU is a beast in comparison.

I mean come on, the two year old A11 is faster than any other processor today, including upcoming Exynos 990 in the S11!

Beating android reopening background apps can easily remedied by adding more RAM to allow the CPU chip from being throttled.

Utilization with AR, Video Editing? Any thoughts or opinions, feel free to post. :)

My 11 Pro Max Geekbench score for fun. Feel free to post yours.

I rarely have more than three applications open at the same time so I never see the ram issue. I also don’t use my phone for gaming or video editing... When I see speed tests on YouTube most of them show unrealistic scenarios that I would never find myself in so although it would be nice to have extra ram, it doesn’t stop me from enjoying my iPhone

This exactly. I’m highly satisfied with iPhone and experience. I stopped looking at what the competition is offering many iPhones ago. As I’ve gotten older so have my priorities.

As a heavy user who keeps most apps open, I can vouch for iphones needing more RAM. This is one area that apple needs to go ham on. More RAM is always better, and this is not just for keeping apps in the background. More RAM could even help with speeds if you can pre-load some apps in the background before opening it. I believe oneplus 7 pro has this feature, and it helps a lot.

Apple's CPU/GPU are amazing, and I hope they keep making progress on it and not take it easy. The fact that the apple watch's processor was so good in the series 4 that apple took it easy on the series 5 worries me a little that they might do the same on iphones if the competition hasn't been stepping up, so it's actually a good thing if android competitors step up their processor game, and Apple keeps levelling up theirs to insane levels! Competition is good.
