LG 38WK95C-W with M1 Air on HDR

I'm running my M1 Air with an LG 38WK95C-W display over USB C, and it works great! However, if I enable HDR in the MacOS display settings the picture is very dim, even with the display brightness all the way up.

Is that just how HDR should be, or am I doing something wrong?
