I'm looking at these two monitors for my M1 Max. I currently use an M32U (4k) but scaled to 3008x1692 for visibility.

The LG would have a vertical close to that (1600), so I could keep it full res and it should work well.

The Dell I'd likely scale down to 3840x1620, which is 75% of native. Not sure if that would be any better vs my M32u, which is like 76.513% or something.

But with all that in mind, what would look sharper?? Would scaling down make things less sharp?

The one with the smallest pixels will always look sharper at the same viewing distance, giving the edge to the Dell. It has the same vertical resolution and likely height as your M32U with extra width.

As you know, scaling down a step or two on the 32" 4k display looks pretty good with its pixel density of 139 pixels per inch. I've never found the 109 pixels per inch displays to ever look good at anything other than native resolution, which is the case with the LG option.

Given the choice, I would likely opt for the option from Dell.

That said, what about the M32U has you wanting to move on to a curved ultrwide monitor? It looks like a great display. I love my inexpensive 32" 4k display. It handles my needs quite well.
