I just received my monitor to go with my 15" 2016 MBP and it's great. Colours seem a little colder than on the MBP's internal screen.
The built-in USB-C hub is neat although it only supports USB 2.0 speeds (due to Bandwidth restrictions in the USB-c/DisplayPort spec). The sound is surprisingly crisp and very loud for built-in monitor speakers. It feels like an iMac 21.5" Retina in a standalone monitor, because that's exactly what it is. My sole gripe with it is that the monitor only provides 60W of charging power.

What cables + machine was this? Others, like myself, would like to avoid this situation :)
I thought the Apple rep knew something and tried to go TB2 (nMP) to TB3.
I should have payed more attention to the experts on this forum.
I took a chance when it first went on sale because of the price and before Apple posted more about the compatibility.

Wait, an Apple chat support person told me last week the Ultrafine 4k should work with a 5k iMac (Late 2014) using the Thunderbolt 2->3 dongle. You're saying it doesn't work at all? I'm about to order one for this very purpose.

The Apple chat person is wrong. I got the same misinformation and wasted hours of my time. Don't waste yours.

Just picked mine up yesterday (dont trust online Apple Store inventory - you need to walk in and ask). I am waiting til the 27" is available but actually pleasantly surprised with the 21" Probably the best 4k panel I have used.. and of course the "built for MBP" capabilities make it an ideal setup.

Thanks for the photos. The monitor does look great!

I am currently using an old 24" monitor and I am unsure, whether I should go for the 21" or the 27" model. Could you maybe share a photo with the MB opened, so that I can see both display sizes in comparison?

Here's a couple of photos of my 21" LG with the new 15" MBP, right after I got the monitor. I actually prefer the size compared to my old 27" Thunderbolt display, it makes working on both the computer and the monitor easier for me.

And a picture of how I'm planning on using the monitor and computer together.

No, the frog isn't normally on the monitor. The only thing is that the color calibrator I've been using doesn't entirely like the 4K monitor - I'm going to start looking around for information on different or potentially newer ones (I have a Spyder 4). It seems like the colors and contrast are pretty close to the calibrated computer monitor - the computer was noticeably different when it wasn't calibrated.
