Hello!

Will the new Macbook/Air being speculated to be announced on Oct 30 support external 5K displays (e.g. LG Ultrafine)?

I have a LG 5k Ultrafine display and am debating between the Macbook Pro 13" 2018 (with Touchbar) vs. the new Macbook/Air to be announced soon.

Please suggest. Thanks!

Considering the current MacBook and MacBook Air support 4K, the upcoming devices supporting 5K is not out of the question. At this point you might as well wait the 11 days to be sure.

The MacBook Pro should have an easier time running the 5K screen.

Basically the question you’re asking is if the new MacBook non-Pro will have Thunderbolt. My guess is no, since Amber Lake does not include Thunderbolt support built-in.

We may find out for sure at the end of the month though.

That was my question exactly. Thank you for the information!
