So how many panels will be from Samsung?

Article says that LG will ship 20m lcd panels, and it says Apple is expected to need 60 to 70m. Also says LG will ship 3m oled for the X+ ( and have a majority for it)

I’m gonna say the normal X will be slightly more popular (and assuming lg won’t be making any panels for it), up it to 9m oled panels required for it from Samsung.

With all the math I’d say Samsung will ship around 59m panels? It’s not the best way to try to figure it out, but if the article is correct it should be close (besides my X estimate)

In TV's LG make terrific displays, but for mobile they have made dreadful displays - its different tech apparently. The Pixel 2 XL is the most recent example (the smaller much less expensive Pixel 2 has a Samsung display and was considered much better) with demo units supplied to review sites were showing burn in after a couple of weeks. The LG V30 had a similar display and similar issues so it wasn't just Google's 2 XL's.

Looks like we'll have a lottery (possibly) of different displays on the same phones (ugh) - 10 million isn't enough production for a year of anything. I'd much rather have an iPhone 9(?) with a Sammy OLED than a LG OLED & I think Samsung is a scummy company (from a moral standpoint). I'm sure Apple will be more stringent than Google, but still. JMHO..

LG always made better display than Sammy so this should be a good news for both LG and Apple.

Have you heard about the recent burn-in issue with LG's OLED TVs? They said it will take 30,000 Hrs + for it to get burn-in, yet the test only lasted 4000 hours before they got terrible burn ins lol.
