LG G2 Leaked

Yes. If the answer was no, why would I even mention it? Slight differences make a big deal to how you type. Imagine if all your keys in portrait were shifted over .2" and your right thumb had to be further over.

I guess but couldn't you just regrip the phone or shift it over a tad to compensate for the loss of inches? Only reason I asked is because you're the first person I've heard of that has even mentioned the keyboard placement being offset as an issue.

You can, but it feels off. Imagine if every smartphone had a .2" larger bezel on the right side in portrait. It would just be weird for typing. This is what is happening in landscape.

The power button looks to be in between the two volume buttons. Seems kind of smart when you think about where your fingers rest on the back of the when you're holding / using it. It would probably take getting used to.

I am too. But right now it comes at a cost to landscape typing. I would love to see some keyboard devs try to fix this.

For example, when you're on a Nexus 4 and go into landscape with the keyboard up, you lose like .2" on the right side. Meaning your right thumb now has to reach .2" over when your left thumb doesn't. However, if the landscape keyboard would also move .2" over from the left side as well, this would fix the problem. But nobody has done that.

I think you are the only person on the planet that even has an issue with this to be brutally honest.

Looks like a sexy phone. Love the on screen buttons. I'm a little uneasy about the power and volume button placement but I will reserve judgement for when I've used it.

Actually, i agree with him. All phones that have on screen buttons should have the screen offset to the bottom so that the useable screen relestate is centered.

Another mediocre LG phone. Well done LG. I'm sure you will never upgrade this device (or like the Optimus G, will be released with outdated software). To top it off, poor RF performance is a given.

I can't believe people still give LG a shot these days.

The only problem with that is when the screen's off it'll be off-centred again. If someone's OC enough to be bothered by the on-screen buttons, then they'll equally be bothered by a screen that's offset on the bottom. It's either going to be one or the other.

For those who are bothered by this sort of thing their best bet is to go with a phone that has a symetrical design with the buttons on the bezel - the GS4 being the best example I can think of.

Glad I'm not the only one. And really the way you are talking about would give more screen in the same casing. Talk about a win win.

I don't know about you, but when I look at my phone I normally look at it with the screen on.... Meaning having the screen offset makes more sense. One of Motorola's leaked phones has something like this and it looks pretty good:

Notice how the bottom bezel is shorter than the top bezel. Although it still doesn't fully account for it, it is better than the way the buttons are on the Nexus 4, and much better than this LG G2.

Also, my original point was not to offset the entire screen in relation to the physical casing. My original point was to just offset the keyboard only in landscape orientation to compensate for the on screen buttons. In which case you can still have a physically symmetrical device when the screen is off. But again, I use my phone more with the screen on ;)

Yes, the GS4 button layout is good for landscape typing. And I would get one if they made the home button capacitive and changed the menu button to a multitasking button like the Nexus 4.

5.2" according to Android Central and Engadget.

This is smart, too. Since it'll have the on-screen soft keys (and those take up .2" of screen real estate), you'll still have 5" of viewable screen, even when you're not watching videos.

I'm excited to get my hands on one of these since the OG is one of my favorite phones I've owned.

I wish companies would stop using glossy plastic. Its just downright ugly and doesn't age very well. How hard is it to make a solid aluminum unibody phone.

I'm hoping more android manufacturers take after HTC in this sense. And with front facing speakers.

Woah LG beat apple to the finger print scanner it seems. I wasn't expecting this.

Here's to hoping the nexus is based off of this phone.

A fingerprint scanner in a phone made by a company like LG means closed proprietary code which means you will be forced to use their overlay. LG's overlay is almost, if not worse, than TouchWiz.

Well, whatever. Here's to hoping it works better than the Atrix.

Everything I have seen said it is just the power button as there is no power button on either side of the phone...

Me too. Maybe it doubles as a finger print sensor? To be honest I don't even know what I would use it for. Its just something "new".

Yeah I hate LG's skin. I hate all skins but theirs is pretty bad.

Maybe. But there is nothing in that picture they have that makes me think finger print scanner. I have no idea why they are assuming it is one. Do they have some source telling them that?

No idea. I think they are drawing their own conclusions from the picture and LG's hints.
