So I just watched the LG G2 announcement and I am extremely excited. This could truly be the the first Android phone to make me switch.

I did want to mention something which some people that are considering buying it should consider. When taking the pictures in landscape mode you might be forced to use the on-screen button.

Now for some people like me, I hate using the on-screen button to take pictures. On my Iphone 5, I exclusively use the top volume key when I take shots. It's much more convenient and I feel a lot more confident that I won't drop the phone. In some cases, I would not bother taking the picture because of risk dropping it. Imagine being somewhere very high and taking a picture.

Now take your current phone and hold it sideways. Pretend that your phone has the G2 back keys somewhere towards the center top on the back of the phone. You are most likely going to use either your left or right index finger to reach that spot on the back of the phone.

If you are holding your phone sideways with the top facing to the right, You won't be able to use your right hand to hit the keys. Why? Well because then your hand will cover the camera lens. So you have to use your left hand. Now with my Iphone 5, I can barely reach that spot on the back with my left hand. Imagine having a phone that's even a bit taller than the galaxy S4. That's a lot more space that you have to reach with your index finger. For some people, that might not even be possible.

So to my conclusion, The intuitiveness of the back key especially when taking landscape shots might be in question. What do you think? Leave me your comments :)

You probably just touch the screen to take a picture. I didn't think about that until you said something, but that is a bit annoying and an oversight on LG's part. Personally, this phone does not interest me in the slightest. Spec wise it is a beast, but there are no features that draw me to it.

in that case i guess LG has the same thing on their phone. Even if they don't it's nothing some coding can't fix. Good point.

although the new position seems right for the volume rocker it's not good for the camera button(in my view) and btw LG is not known for putting GREAT cameras in their phones, my GS4 has a great camera and i'm completely happy with it.:)

based on these camera comparisons, LG G2 blows S4 out of the water. Not even in the same universe of quality. Blows iphone 5 out of water too.

Actually, that has been the case for quite some time now. I can't use the volume keys on my S III, nor my old S II.

    OMG

    you dont know?

    you trust phone arena?

read their articles and in one month(for me it was one month) you'll easily find out that LG runs that website, i'm not joking, the only unbiased source i could find is GSMArena.com

A (hopefully) genuine LG G2 video, demonstrating OIS, gain control and audio. The latter is stereo!!! At last a decent non-Symbian / WP smartphone with stereo video recording!

Well, actually, GSMArena.com's own shots have exactly the same merits as those of PA: http://blog.gsmarena.com/lg-g2-camera-samples-arrive-show-what-its-13mp-ois-shooter-is-capable-of/

Why are all the pics from the LG G2 up closer? And why on earth would they put the power button on the back where it can be a problem? It is sticking out and the the first thing a flat surface will touch.

You may want to look a little closer the phone sits completely flat on its back. It's very clever and different it will make hiting the power button easier as you are pulling it out off your pocket.
I also just noticed you can add a fourth soft key for pulling down the notification shade now for a bigger phone that is smart!
I think the G2 is a sleeper and once it goes main stream will give the S4 and tiny iPhone 5s a run for there money.

Technically, the phone does not have a power button. You'll be required to double tap on the screen to wake it up. The button on the rear is some multipurpose button of some kind. Although you can configure it as the power button.

It's just one of those things that we will have to try it to understand it. I remember when the power button button was moved to the side I was like WTF and then after some use it makes sense.
I'm really looking forward to the G2.

Sure it is! Particluarly now that we know the Honami will only have a cr@ppy 1/2.3" sensor, meaning it'll have VERY bad image quality...

While it's base ISO (64), it's still full of noise and noise reduction artifacts.

First off, it's a user programmable button. There's several choices of functions.

Second it was designed by highly qualified engineers that realize the obvious.

Third, and of greater importance, if this brilliant idea came from Apple.... The forum would be gushing over it, declaring it a life changing device. The major news outlets would be raving, people would be in awe of Apples accomplishment.

Notice the hypocrisy in play by the naysayers here. It's an Apple tradition. :)
