Haven't seen anything on the LG G5 until today. But this rumor looks promising. Moving the volume buttons to the side of the device is welcomed. Home button to double as a fingerprint scanner is a nice touch.
Removable battery modular design is very interesting.

I saw this as well, and it looks like a very original approach. At first when I heard that they were going all metal, I doubted it as LG are currently the only ones offering removable batteries. But to offer a removable battery and a metal unibody design, that's quite a feat.

If true, that would definitely tempt me to switch to LG.

The skin is the one reason i never bought any LG flagship past few years. It's awful.

I had the G3 and the G4. Both great phones but too many concessions to live with, for me.

It will take A LOT for me to consider a G5. Samsung's hardware is just next level, even if I felt more connected to the LG phones.

now there is some ingenuity! removable batteries don't need to die, just need new designs to accommodate them

    now that software... :p

What were the issues? Based on what has been leaked about the G5 it sounds pretty great to me. If it has good physical dimensions then I might consider moving from Oneplus One.

There are many, many positives for sure. The lack of bezels, the volume buttons, the camera... Plenty of great points.

Otherwise there are some definite frustrations with the software, and it gets very laggy very quickly. The screen actually is a little big, I'd argue - the Samsung S6 is the perfect size, I think. You can use it one-handed. The camera could produce incredible shots but would struggle with speed, and frequently would miss shots.

I reckon LG will do something very different with the G5. It might be a different size, shape, everything... But as others have said, they definitely have to fix the software, lighten the bloat and cut the lag.

To be fair, HTC did something similar years ago, I always wondered why it never caught on.

That's the HTC Inspire, was released in 2011 on AT&T, not sure worldwide release though. I had that phone for a couple of months, it was built like a tank.

The tank description reminds me on the HTC Thunderbolt. that phone was a tank too.

I guess as batteries got bigger they couldn't accommodate that sort of size. It does look like a pretty good design, and a good inspiration for the G5.

I like it. One of the 2016 flagship contenders for me that I will get this year. I just hope the custom skin isn't such a detrimental to how smooth it flows. And between S7 edge v G5, it will boil down to always how good the battery life is between them and overall value.

The Redmi 3 has a huge 4100 mAh and it only has to power "5/720p. Xiaomi packing 3000+ mAh for 1080p were excellent in stamina already. MIUI doesn't generally jave wakelocks. It trips me out that maybe a $107 phone might outclass these QHD smartphones only packing 3500+ mAh and priced like 6-8x higher unlocked.

Kudos to companies like Xiaomi, Huawei, and ASUS. I can save the money for other gadgets and even for another fashionista phone. 2016 is starting to show more promise than 2015 did thanks to price.

Wow @ that design. This will be different...its about time we finally see a new interesting design. I feel like smartphones all look alike now a days.

I believe LG will put the fingerprint scanner on the back this year, but will incorporate it in the screen by G6 in 2017 (Apple will probably do this for the iPhone 7 this year). LG seems to be one of the only company that understands the screen to body ratios...I remember my G3 feeling way smaller than 5.5".

They do have the best screen ratios. But to do that they moved all the controls to the back of the phone. Rumors have them moving the volume controls to the side of the phone. But leaving the home button on the back to double as a fingerprint scanner.
I would to see all phones have a fingerprint scanner on the screens! That would be nice to see.

Gonna be interesting. So is the microsd gone? I thought I watched a rumor video saying the removable battery is there but the sd is gone in favor of a new feature

This might be the rumoured 'magic slot'
    --- Post Merged, Jan 19, 2016 ---

Would be awesome if it came to life. I fear we will be disappointed though.

Trust me, nothing wrong with the LG V10 at all. I just decided I wanted something different versus all other prior smartphones I owned so I opted for the Edge Plus instead. I could have lived with the LG no problem.

Very much doubt it will be gone, it will probably be part of the Magic Slot thing.

The dual-rear-cameras seem to be confirmed. I wonder how they'll be used differently than the Evo 3D or M8? Optical zoom?
