LG Monitor won't display from Mac mini 2

Hi
I just purchased a LG 27 MN60 T for use with new Mac mini 2.
I connected the MM2 to the monitor with HDMI cable that came with the monitor.
Nothing displayed on monitor -
In minimal instructions that came with the monitor - it stated that I would need To purchase a VGA connector adapter for a 15 pin Hi Density 3 Row cable to a 15 pin 2 row connector.

I used a extra HDMI cable that I had and connected the MM2 to the monitor and it is working good enough for my use.

2 questions:
Will purchasing/using the adapter result in better scree resolution?
Will using the 2 row cable damage the monitor?

I just purchased a LG 27 MN60 T for use with new Mac mini 2.

That is a 27” 1920 x 1080 resolution monitor. That is the highest resolution you monitor supports. I suspect you may be confused because Mac displays in HiDPI mode. Basically the Mac is displaying content in "looks like" 960 x 540 on your 1920 x 1080 resolution. You may want to choose the "More Space" option. Post a screen capture of your Settings > Displays window.

Your suspicion is correct - I have always just plugged monitor into computer and was satisfied with result - never bothered with settings

OP:

Just use whatever cable you used to get the image in reply 3 above.
It works.
1080p is "what you get" from a "1080p display" ...
