Well as long as LG can produce the panels to the required quality then this is good. Hopefully lower production costs will be passed on to the consumers in lower priced products but I'm not holding my breath considering this is Apple.

All that matters if it’s passes Apples stringent quality test(s) to be used for their iPhones. Apple has high standards with hardware quality, and the consumer knows that. Why don’t we give LG a fair chance here to see what they can offer before you chastise them.
because in the past,in MacBooks particularly,Apple used mix of LG and Samsung displays and as expected,Samsung ones were superior, people went as far as digging displays serial numbers to identify wether it’s an LG or Samsung display on their machine they’d bought.
There are numerous threads regarding it here.
The point is,Samsung (and Sharp and Japan Display) have always been better than LG.
Apple’s quality test is irrelevant.LG will pass that, but their displays are not as good as Samsung and other mentioned ones.
iPhone X had Samsung OLED display.

It's a shame Apple's superior quality checks didn't extend to its butterfly keyboard. Or T2 chip.

This is for future iPhones? Will I get a Samsung display when I receive my XS next week?

I’ve never been satisfied with a Samsung display in any product... TVs, phones, refrigerators... you name it. LG makes far superior displays, generally, and if their new small-sized OLEDs meet Apple’s specifications then I’m sure they will be great.

So far Apple has been using Samsung display in all its products such as iPhone, iPad, MacBook etc...

Hope your experiences applicable to these Apple products as well..

The displays are manufactured worldwide by different suppliers. Currently, the iPad's display comes from Samsung, while the MacBook Pro, iPhone, and iPod Touch displays are made by LG Display and Japan Display Inc., with the exception of the iPhone X(S) which is also produced by Samsung.

I don’t trust oled yet. Of the 3 people I know with oled phones, 2 had to get replaced and 1 is only a month old. My husband and I have owned at least 20 computer monitors over 30+ years. Only one failed in less than 5 years - a 2013 27” imac with an LG lcd. It currently has an ASUS monitor sitting in front of the imac which makes it look like junk. I expect more from Apple. But then who designs a super thin computer with a spinning platter warming up the back side of the lcd panel?
