Hello,

Have any of you guys encountered this?... I have a 2017 LG OLED TV and an Apple TV 4K. I use the ATV for HBOGO/Netflix and I use a TiVo box on one of the other inputs. For the last couple weeks (when I got the ATV and OLED) everything worked fine. Randomly I bought a movie on iTunes today (first purchase) and the sound didnt work. I switched to the TiVo input to test and it didnt have sound either. I reset the TV and the TiVo volume now works but I can't get sound from the movie via ATV. The ATV menus make sound, but the movie itself is silent. Even the preview of the movie I bought (Elf) works but not the movie iteself. Netflix & HBO sound is also not working?

Audio output on the TV is set to internal speakers and audio output on the ATV is set to the apple TV itself.

I am decently tech literate but I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on?
[doublepost=1511474273][/doublepost]Maybe it’s an issue with the TV itself? Continuing to play with it and if I do a sound test, the sound will work. If I flip to the other input that sound doesn’t work. I do a sound test, it works, and the first input will now no longer work.

It’s like the TV isn’t switching the audio when I flip inputs?

I've been having a similar/the same issue periodically, which I have been unable to properly get to the bottom of (my LG is the OLED65B7V if it matters). When the sound outage has occurred I have tried changing the audio choices in the ATV as well as the LG but that has not helped. A restart of the ATV (using the restart option in the menu) doesn't seem to help either. In frustration I tried a power cycle on the ATV (essentially unplug and re-plug to the mains) and that worked and sound was back. The problem hasn't happened again (yet) but if it does the power cycle will be my first try and see if it fixes the problem again. It is an odd one, and I have been worried something may be wrong with my ATV, but it is otherwise working flawlessly.

The ATV is on the latest beta software and this sound issue is a recent thing, but I don't want to make assumptions as to any correlation.

Otherwise, the LG OLED and the ATV 4K combo is breathtaking.

It's not the TV, it's the ATV regardless of settings. I started having it occasionally on my last couple of ATV's now and again, usually a reboot sorts it out. Not had it with my 4K box yet on my LG C7.

This is a known issue with the LG line of TVs and I am struggling with it as well. LG Support is of no help whatsoever as they are complete idiots...outsourced Indians with zero knowledge/skills. They will tell you the issue is with every other device you’re using which is obviously BS as the common thread is the TV and every AV forum on the internet knows about the LG issue.

The Sound Test is the only known resolution I know of that I e been using. Audio sync also becomes an issue at times (for cable anyway).

Update your firmware manually via LG’s site (doing it via internet download directly through the TV does not give you the latest version). Just know that it doesn’t fix the issue.

Check out AVforums dot com for the latest...again, we’ll known problem.

Edit: By the way, the cause is typically from switching input sources (e.g. bouncing from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2). That’s what generally triggers the problem. It has nothing to do with Apple TV, specifically.
