Interesting, this isn't good considering LG has sold a total of 1 million Optimus G's worldwide and about 500,000 Nexus 4's worldwide... So that leaves Apple w/ somewhere around only 1 million iPhone 5's sold in its home country last month...

Anyway, all things considered, Samsung only owning 33% marketshare in both smartphones and feature phones is kind of underwhelming...

Did you even read the story? It pertains to handset sales--not just smartphones but also feature phones. I'd guess both Samsung and LG probably lead in sales of feature phones and without numbers showing specific details, article is pretty much useless. For all we know LG sold 1 million smartphones and 12 million dumb phones compared to 12 million iPhones (numbers fabricated only to show how meaningless the figures in the article were).

Awww, you just stole LG's thunder. You party pooper. You're actually trying to dissect these sensationalist articles using logic, balanced thinking, and some common sense. Shame on you. You don't belong on a rumor-site!

Yes I read the story, did you read the OP's title? Jumping the gun no?

Also, considering that Apple only deals in smartphones makes Samsung's 'marketshare' pretty measly.

Who's jumping the gun? You inferred Apple only sold 1 million iPhones based LG's smartphone sales numbers AND marketshare data that includes their feature phone sales, with no detailed sales numbers for each type of handset, which is simply wrong.

And the same goes for Samsung's 'measly marketshare' as you put it--you have inside information that show's what percentage of those sales are smartphone vs. feature phone? Considering it's triple Apple's share, regardless of handset type, and their recent financial results, I'm sure Samsung is terribly concerned.

Your title is LG overtakes Apple. You called attention to LG selling its wide range of phones and outpacing Apple at the mobile phone market. I was being somewhat sarcastic w/ that remark b/c the article is spun in such away that it is misleading.

With Samsung, its just the same. they have a wide range of selections as well, and I am particularly shocked that they only achieved a 33% market share when you consider that it is likely the number of GN's and GS's sold are comparable to iPhones and the rest other feature phones or Galaxy S spawns.

And according to the article LG still over took them. What's your point?

Just because a company sells a boat load of a product for their first weekend means nothing in the end if someone else beats them in the end.

It's a pointless comparison, because LG has over 200 phones of various prices.

If Apple made 200 phones with varying prices do you think LG would still have sold more? I doubt it.

    Based on research data.

    Not actual data.

The research/analyst could be millions off. Not sure why we even have a useless thread about it.

Just think how many more N4s that LG could add to that list if they could get their supply chain train-wreck sorted out.... :p
