Hi All - I'm wondering if anyone here knows enough about monitors to help me diagnose this problem. I am experiencing very thin vertical lines (running top to bottom) of what appear to be dead pixels on my LG UltraFine 4K display. It started with one and another one just popped up today - I've attached a picture of what it looks like. Is it possible that this issue is the fault of the thunderbolt cable or is it most likely the internals of the display itself? If I were to open up the display I'm not sure which component would need to be replaced or tightened so I was hoping that someone has experienced a similar problem. I thought maybe I could rule out the thunderbolt cable being the issue if I could somehow turn on the display on its own without connecting my MacBook but there doesn't appear to be any way to do that.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Just happened to me too. Mine was manufactured March 2019. Not pleased. I have 2 lines. One about 1/8 of an inch from the right bezel and the other about 1/4 of the screen in on the right side. for a day if I touched the screen the line 1/4 into the screen would disappear. But now it won't. My guess is a ribbon cable issue. One looks black and the other is red. Not good for a screen only produced a year and a half ago! Samsung support contacted. Standby for updates.

Hi everyone, I'm having the same issue, and my monitor is fresh out of the box! I've noticed that the line goes away sometimes when I'm switching between apps, and it doesn't seem to be related to wiggling cables around.
Has anyone had any luck fixing it? Thank you!

Sorry Samsung. I meant LG. After some back and forth LG Support has committed to stand behind their product and will fix this recently past warranty (2.5 months) issue.

My LG Ultrafine 24MD4KL-B also manufactured in March 2019 has developed the same problem. There is a thin blue vertical line about 1/4 of the screen width from the left side. A gentle squeezing of the bezel would make it go away at first but now it seems permanent.

My experiences with LG display reliability have not been good but there are very few 24" 4K displays available. I ordered another one from the Apple Store and received it a few days ago -- this one was manufactured in July 2021. I'm hoping for a better result this time. Image quality on these displays is excellent.

I also have a thin blue line appearing on right hand side of my LG Ultrafine 24MD4KL-B. I am about 4 months out of the 1 year warranty. I pressed on the bottom of the bezel and the blue line went away, but i doubt that is going to be a permanent fix. The line is usually not there when I start the day, but usually appears a few hours after the monitor has been on. I also have the 27" 5K LG monitor and it does not have this issue thankfully. I would have gotten another 27" but they were difficult to find last summer.

UPDATE: I opened an inquiry with LG and they offered to repair it for $150. Not bad but I do feel like this is a design defect that they should be fixing even if outside of the warranty period. The blue line has not returned since I pressed on the bezel several days ago so I am going to wait it out and see if that actually fixed it.

UPDATE 2: After more than a week now, the blue line has not re-appeared. Maybe pressing the bezel was enough to re-seat a loose connection.

i have a blueish vertical line a couple of inches in from the left hand side of an LG UltraFine 5K display. I've tried pressing the bevel and nothing changed (not sure how hard to press). Is there anything else I can try?
