Source? In a thread I made earlier the conclusion was that the 5K wouldn’t work with the iPad since it’s TB3, while the 4K would probably work.According to Apple, yes. It will mirror the iPad, and sometimes (in the case of video and photos) display full screen.

Do we know why the USB-C enabled MacBook doesn’t mirror at all then? Just due to lack of processing power? I thought devices had to be Thunderbolt enabled to output to the UF 5K, while any USB-C device can output to the UF 4K.They said it on stage at the keynote.
In fact, watch the keynote to 55:30. “USB-C up to 5k.” And yes the UltraFine 5k supports Thunderbolt 3, but it’s also USB-C.
My guess is that it’s a limitation of the graphics card power? Who knows? I’m just repeating what Apple said on stage.Do we know why the USB-C enabled MacBook doesn’t mirror at all then? In the keynote they say it can display out up to 5K. They never say it works specifically with the UF 5K.My guess is that it’s a limitation of the graphics card power? Who knows? I’m just repeating what Apple said on stage.
Well I’m not sure that I know of another 5k usb-c monitor that happens to look like the ones shown off in the photos and videos. In the keynote they say it can display out up to 5K. They never say it works specifically with the UF 5K.
