[doublepost=1482796876][/doublepost]I'll start with this incredible short film, filmed with a Red Weapon 8K camera  :D

it doesn't matter wether it's shot on 8k or 80000k even.. if its on youtube, its maxed out at 4k, and youtube 4k has in general a much lower quality than blu-ray 4k...

Awesome site! Downloaded the Acrobatics video... pure eye candy. Of note, playing the file through Quicktime barely got the fans going :D

Wow, you're right. Quicktime didn't turn the fans up at all and ran smooth.
VLC player had hiccups and fans hit 5000+ rpm. Hope this is something VLC can improve in the future.

*update*
I was able to get VLC player playing these videos smoothly and with the same low performance hit (& fan rpm) as Quicktime.

It appears that VLC isn't using hardware acceleration when set to 'auto'.
VLC Preferences, Input/Codecs, change the 'Hardware Acceleration' option from 'Auto' to 'Video Decode Acceleration'.

After doing that VLC plays those 4k videos as well as Quicktime.
