Have the option to grab an LG Ultrafine 5K for $800. I googled it, just for means of doing research, and learned it’s unavailable for pickup at any Apple Store near me (there are several). I suppose my question is - is $800 a decent price and, more importantly, is it about to be replaced? If so... should I wait and see? I don’t know that monitors “lose support” (but maybe they do).

Not in stock in my local Apple store either, but it can be ordered for a Tuesday delivery if I so desired...

Pickup has been disabled since the shielding debacle so it's not an indication of availability.

Personally I think it is still one of the best monitors out there despite its flaws, and if you want 5K your options are limited.

Still a good deal for what it is. I went with triple lg 4K ultrafine for less. I use both setup and that large 5k, one cable solution is hard to beat.

So I am using my iMac 5k for half a year now but definitely need a second monitor. As I posted before, the LG 5k was pretty good and worked well with my iMac but I couldn't justify paying 1.4k EUR for it.

Six months later I see there is still nothing else on the market :( Whats worse is that the 5k LG is still as expensive, even used models are sold for over 1k on eBay in Germany. Are there new 5k monitors coming to the market? Wasn't Apple supposed to introduce his own monitor?

I can pretty much wait a few more months but not a year or so :(
