Just seen this announced.

Looks interesting.

Perhaps an alternative to the folding phones at least until the folding phones become cheaper and more robust.

Good to see some innovation in the stale mobile phone market.

This is a perfect example of trying something different just to be different. Theres no purpose or benefit to this design. They're confusing different for innovative.

Exactly. Small amount of kudos to LG from trying something different.

That being said, how about some actual effort though in creating something actually useful? This design is just silly.

Thought the same thing. Usually a new design fills a need or use case for the masses. I don't this thing doing either of those things....It is just different just to be different.

Does anyone watch Mr. Mobile "When phones were fun" reviews? I feel like we are slowly entering that era again, and I like it.

As far as the LG Wing goes, I just want to play with one for 30 minutes, and then I'm done with it. :p

The LG Wing would make watching anything in landscape more comfortable. Would also be good for mobile gaming.

Otherwise yes, not sure about it full usefulness.

Really glad LG is trying out new things. Although the use cases didn't seem well thought-out, I'd love to just play with that phone for a couple hours.

I'm all for development of foldables, and actual really cool and useful technology for consumers, but this just looks like something that exists for the sake of existing.

100%. I've thought of about 3-4 ways that it would be really useful. But it kind of goes with all foldables for me at the moment. I just don't see a practical need for one right now.

What I dont understand is, if they want a slide-out, dual screen device...why not just make it dual screen but slide out to create a rectangle with two separate screens? That accomplishes essentially what they are already doing with with a more useful form factor.

I want to see more like those in his videos too. I miss those wild days when phones tried to stand out, not this homogenized 'dumbed down for the mass market' mediocrity.

This thing is bonkers. BONKERS!

But they’ve come up with some practical uses of the wacky screen formation, I’ll give em that.

Pretty much my take. I would never buy it because the last LG phone I had was the G6 and I wasn’t a fan. But kudos to them for making something different. Just wonder how many units they’ll actually sell. Lol.

It needs to be around £800 and definitely not in excess of £1000.

It doesn't have a foldable screen so should not be more expensive than the standard flagships from other manufacturers e.g. Note 20 Ultra, despite the second screen.

Just had a look at the Mate XS price. £2000!!!!
Huawei needed this to be around £1400 if the Fold 2 is £1800.

Hope all these foldables eventually drop to a normal RRP of closer to £1000 at later iterations.

Many LG fans got soured with a few generations of bootloops due to faulty motherboards. I think the G4, V10, V20, G5, and G6 all suffered bootloops. So if you're like me and love holding onto your devices long-term, you might want to be aware of that.

I will just post here for trying to understand LG and audio with high impedance headphones with their quad dac phones. When using with Tidal are you getting Master playback quality? I have seen Hifi listed on the status bar during playback, how is one suppose to know exactly what the audio playback quality is for Hifi?

BTW, I am pretty sure there are reviews on YT now for the Wing.
