My /Library/Fonts folder is missing after I uninstalled a font manager with an uninstal app :(

/System/Library/Fonts folder is still present, and intact with all fonts that should be there. I also did a "fontrestore default" in the terminal, but it only restores the fonts in the system folder.

Heres a list of the fonts included in Mavericks and Yosemite
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201375

And heres how "Look up <words>" feature looks like in Safari

Is there any way to restore the /Library/Fonts folder?

From your backup - Time Machine or otherwise?

Can you not change your font back to the default system font?

    Restore or reinstall

As suggested, restore from a backup.

Or use Apple's installer to reinstall the operating system.

Unfortunately I don't have a backup. I've mounted the recovery drive and looked through the base system, but it only has the /System/Library/Fonts.

    Any ideas?

If not, maybe upload the fonts for me in an archive. PM me or something.

Which fonts? My User/Library/Fonts folder is empty. They may have been installed by your font manager???

Re-install Yosemite : boot with Cmd + r depressed, from the OS X Utilities window select re-install OS X.

This is the only way to get the /Library/Fonts folder back. (975 Mo on Yosemite).

This will let your data, apps, and settings unchanged.

I'm talking about the /Library/Fonts folder (Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts), not the ~/Library/Fonts (the user)

Can you check if that is empty as well? Thanks :)

    Reinstall

Really, it's better to reinstall the operating system. There'll be less messing about –

    +1

If you have Pacifist you can selectively install
    /Library/Fonts
    – after downloading Apple's installer – but I recommend taking the opportunity to properly reinstall the operating system.

Might have to reinstall apps anyway, if that font cleaner wiped out any app-specific fonts.

Ah - no not empty, best to re-populate by an OSX re-install IMHO

    ----------

OP - do this, it <may> not be enough to repopulate the font folder, your "font manager" may have made other changes as part of its "management" that may get in the way of proper operation.
