lid open/close firmness

we have a new air and retina, the air screen flips like nothing and seems as if it would close on its own, the retina seems very firm and needs pressure to flip up or down...

normal?

I prefer the firmness of my rMBP over my 11" Air. There is definitely a difference between models.
