I would assume that Lidar is safe give that in the next 2-3 years, we're about to see 80% of the automotive industry using it to map out humans, objects, animals...etc. if your referring to lidar being like radiation, i dont think so either.
My point, although subtle, was that this was the EXACT question TO ask 🙂 I am very unfamiliar with this tech. I know Apple thinks it is safe, but I need to know more.
If I understand your question correctly I would avoid shooting the pulsed laser directly at the eyes. Like any laser beam it has the potential to cause harm by intentionally mis-using it. Error on the side of caution; don’t use it as a play toy; and there will be no issues.

I did ask AppleSupport, but no answer (yet) on what the use to make it 100% safe, also if you look into the beam for like 30 minutes while recording a video or so.
